Cauldron Lore
Cauldron Aims to End Scion.
Eidolon (David)
Affiliation: Protectorate / Founding Hero (Triumvirate) / Cauldron Member
Power: Variable Power Suite — Eidolon can access three powers at once, each drawn from a massive internal library of shard abilities. The powers change over time, often adapting to his subconscious sense of need. Examples include flight, force fields, energy blasts, regeneration, precognition, time manipulation, and more. Unfortunately, his powers have been slowly growing weaker over time. Eidolon wears a blue-green skintight suit, with a heavy hood and cape built in and sleeves that drape over his hands. The interior of his hood and sleeves are filled with a soft green glow. There is body armour hidden beneath the costume that gives the illusion of muscle. His face is covered by an opaque, glassy helm glowing blue-green.His eyes were faintly visible behind the mask. The glow from his mask is provided by LEDs. When not dressed up as Eidolon, he is a middle-aged man, with thick eyebrows, thinning hair and heavy cheeks, big nose and ears. People were often struck by how normal, even slightly ugly he looked without his mask.
Notes: His power is the reason for the Endbringers, as he seeks to have Worthy Opponents to bring out the strength of his powers.Contessa (Fortuna)
Affiliation: Cauldron Leader.
Power: Path to Victory — A precognitive power that determines the sequence of actions required to achieve a chosen goal. When she activates it, she perceives a “path” of steps leading to success, adjusting dynamically to events.
Limitations: Cannot be used effectively for vague or conceptual goals (e.g., “make everyone happy”), only concrete objectives (e.g., “kill Scion,” “escape alive”). The path can involve morally abhorrent actions — the power doesn’t distinguish right from wrong.
Notes: The most dangerous human alive. Essentially unbeatable unless her goal is undefined or blocked by other precognitive interference (like Scion’s or the Simurgh’s) She killed Eden.Legend (Keith Mathers)
Affiliation: Protectorate / Triumvirate / Cauldron
Power: Energy Projection and Control — Emits and shapes pure, multicolored light energy. Each color corresponds to a different energy type: blue for piercing beams, red for explosive force, green for solid constructs, etc. He is also one of the fastest parahumans alive and has a breaker power that changes his body to living light. As he becomes more like light, he is able to fly faster and ignore most attacks, though it impairs his ability to think. While in this state, he absorbs most kinds of energy, using it to repair his human form. This transformation happens instinctively to avoid injury, usually when he is struck or when he flies too fast. It allows him to survive in time dilated environments without food or water by absorbing ambient energy sources. Legend has wavy brown hair and a square jaw. He is tall, with a lean, muscular physique. He is considered noticeably attractive. He wears a skintight sky blue costume with white lightning/flame designs. His costume includes boots and white gloves. His mask is blue and silver/white, and leaves his mouth, chin, hair and some of his forehead uncovered.
Capabilities: Can bend light midair, curve shots, use reflective surfaces to attack from multiple angles, and generate flight via propulsion.
Notes: One of the most disciplined and moral of Cauldron’s heroes. Kept out of knowing some of the darker aspects of Cauldron.Alexandria (Rebecca Costa-Brown)
Affiliation: PRT Director / Triumvirate / Cauldron
Power: Triad of Physical Enhancement — Super strength, invulnerability, and flight. Her body is practically indestructible, capable of surviving atmospheric re-entry, nuclear blasts, and massive impacts. She wears a black costume with a skirt, knee-high boots and elbow-length gloves. It was black and light gray, with an image of a tower in the center of her chest. The costume featured a wide, heavy cape that flowed over her shoulders and draped onto the ground beside and behind her.She is also the Chief Director of the PRT in her civillian identity as Rebecca Costa-Brown, using body doubles to keep up this identity. She is missing an eye, but it is replaced with an advanced prosthetic visually indistinguishable from a real one.
Doctor Mother (Dr. Mother)
Affiliation: Cauldron Leader
Power: None (Natural Human)
Notes: One of the original Cauldron founders. Oversaw the distribution of “Cauldron vials” that granted powers, aiming to engineer humanity into a weapon capable of surviving the Entities. Her strength lay in strategy, manipulation, and coordination rather than combat.Number Man (Kurt Wynn)
Affiliation: Cauldron Analyst / Former Banker / The Triumvirate’s Behind-the-Scenes Financier
Power: Number Man's ability makes him "good with numbers" to a ridiculous degree with numerous applications. He perceives his power as elaborate mathematical notations that exist in the air and objects around himself, as if being written in thread-thin lines. He is able to mentally digest the numbers so quickly to the point where his own perceptions and self seem to go in slow-motion.[27]This power allows him to understand and manipulate the world economy in immense detail.[9] He can also use it to predict the likely casualties of various end of the world scenarios[28][29] and potentially identify abstract targets, cultural and economic, to push the world toward collapse.[30]
He can intuitively analyze architecture, letting him design buildings, predict collapses,[31] and conduct controlled demolitions.[32] Doctor Mother claimed that he was able to calculate the odds of success for a given Cauldron vial, but this was a lie.[33] Tattletale believed that he would be able to break Dragon's time-lock encryption.[34]
He can accurately perceive things not easily seen by the normal eye, such as the Custodian's presence and the edges of Doormaker portals.[35] He was able to target Night Hag and Nyx despite their visual distorting powers,[21] fight with his sight blocked by bugs,[31] and was able to detect Taylor's bugs and identify people hiding among her swarm-clones.[36]
His calculations help him to survive dangerous falls,[22] though he is still somewhat worried by them.[37]
He can climb building-faces as fast as running on horizontal terrain, using his power to find handholds and footholds.[22] He climbed down a ladder so fast he almost seemed to be falling.[36]
His power is also formidable in combat, using his own body very efficiently. He can analyze and predict an opponent during combat, allowing him to dodge their attacks by extremely narrow margins[22][38] once he understands their power.[9] He claimed that he could see the stress points of his opponent and strike vulnerable areas to shatter bones.[39] He was able to lock Lung and Bitch's Dogs in holds that didn't allow their muscles any leverage and[40] judo-throw Dragon's Teeth officers in full power-armor.[22] However, he isn't quite as good in a brawl as Contessa.[41]
He is more effective based on how much of his surroundings he can take in before engaging, making the power even better at range than in a melee fight.[42] He once ricocheted bullets to knock the knife out of Imp's hand when she held it to Doctor Mother's throat,[31] and could target Rime regardless of cover and her attempts to dodge.[36] A clone of him was able to disable one of Bitch's dogs by throwing something at it.[43] He was able to track Scion's location for String Theory.[44] His power enabled a clone of him to dodge Foil's attacks, despite her superhuman sense of trajectories and timing. He could also anticipate and avoid Golem's smallest, fastest hands, as well as Revel's programmed orbs.[22]
Custodian (Unknown Name)
Affiliation: Cauldron
Power:The Custodian is a parahuman made of air, invisible and almost completely incorporeal. She is bound to the Cauldron complex occupying the entire structure, essentially omnipresent[15] except in a few key areas. When she manifests her powers she is shifting where her focus is and incarnating temporary duplicates of herself.[15] She can do this in enormous numbers, which she can either use for combat or to patrol Cauldron's base.[16] She can use her abilities to manipulate objects with heavy or delicate force.[17] Serving as a viable counter and containment measure for the innumerable Deviant cases that Cauldron houses and one-woman maintenance staff.
Her power is limited in application mostly by her attention span or cramped environments.[18]
She is capable of pulling herself back into a human form, but chooses not to the majority of the time.
Doormaker
Affiliation: Cauldron / Captive Asset
Power:Doormaker can open and close portals[4] between places he has sensory awareness of, including between dimensions. He has some degree of clairvoyance as he sees into other worlds to an extent.[9][10]On May 1st, 1988,[11] he in combination with Contessa[5] created portals to New York, Chicago, and the Cauldron Compound.[12]
In combination with Clairvoyant, Doormaker normally used his power to transport members of Cauldron wherever they needed to go and was effectively the gatekeeper to their facilities. His power allowed Cauldron to pick up test subjects, that would become Case 53s, from everywhere, but Earth Bet, and dispense them in desired locations after the transformation. Doormaker unfortunately perceives too many worlds at once, which negatively impacted his life.[9][10] By May 1988,[11] he was functionally blind and deaf.[10] Legend speculated this was because of too much exposure to Clairvoyant, who had great synergy with Doormaker.[13]
He cannot move or drift his portals as they are anchored to the rotation of the planet.[14] Doormaker's power appears to be confined to the limits of Earth's atmosphere.[15] If Doormaker dies or the well of energy he drew from ran dry, then his portals would start winking out of existence.[16][17][18]
Large amounts of energy can disrupt Doormaker's portals.
