the campaign is currently set during 1988, on the 5th of July. It is set during the Japan bubble era, where money flows out from every business and pocket in Japan. The yakuza are at their peak here, owning legal and illegal businesses, having a foot in every single puddle, and more, but they engage in dangerous localized and nation-wide war, even engaging in civil war within themselves. There are currently four major events going on in the world right now.
The Empty Lot Murder:
Sitting in the middle of Shinjuku is an empty lot that, for some reason, every major Criminal group wants to take for themselves. That was, until July 4th, 1988 where a low ranking foot soldier from the Tojo Clan took a man there to shake him down. Later that night, police found the man dead in the same lot, opening an investigation into it and bringing immense heat down.
The Ten Billion Yen Incident:
On July 2nd, 1988, roughly 10 billion yen disappeared from an Omi Alliance Patriarchs bank. This fueled his intense rage, and a nation-wide search is currently being conducted. No one knows where this Ten Billion yen went, and whoever finds it is either the richest person in Japan, or the most well respected person in the Omi Alliance.
Yokohama Serial Killer:
In the busy region of Yokohama, a Serial Killer plagues the area. This Serial Killer is only known as "The Mole", recognized for his signature move of gouging out his victim's eyes and completely covering his body with loose latex and polyester. His targets are typically Yakuza members and criminals, and nobody knows why The Mole does this.
Corrupt Politician Takeover:
in Hiroshima, the typically peaceful and quant city is currently experiencing a ruthless and brutal takeover by corrupt politicians. These corrupt politicians are funded by the Yomei Alliance, and seek to take control of Hiroshima and pass many laws in favor of their criminal friends. Due to their ruthless speed though, they have left many clues and evidence against them.
