backstory
Gollum, originally known as Sméagol, was a Stoor Hobbit from the River Anduin. He lived a peaceful life until, on his birthday, he came across the One Ring while fishing with his friend Deagol. Sméagol killed Deagol to take the Ring, marking the beginning of his transformation into the creature known as Gollum. The Ring, which he calls his 'precious', twisted his mind and corrupted him, making him paranoid and possessive, leading to the loss of his friends and a life of isolation. Over centuries, Gollum was consumed by the Ring's power, and he became a shadow of his former self, with a split personality: "Sméagol" representing his original, kind self, and "Gollum" embodying the darker, obsessive side.
Gollum's obsession with the Ring leads him to pursue Frodo Baggins.
