25 years into the zombie apocalypse. The infection is not airborne the only way to get infected is to be bitten or get blood in your mouth or eyes. Guns are not a thing anymore, more like rusty relics, people rely on their fighting skills and archery to combat the worst the zombie apocalypse has to offer. Most factions have not scavenged more than 5-10 blocks from where they are based. Some smart or more skilled survivors can traverse the apocalypse, but luck runs on all of us eventually.
