Hive Secundus once blazed with purpose—a beacon of production, labor, and disciplined toil. Its stacks belched smoke into the Necromundan skies, its people worked in rhythm, and its corridors echoed with machine chants and servitor hymns. But that harmony cracked when the Genestealer Cult awoke. Now, Secundus is a ruin: quarantined, scarred by orbital bombardment, and spoken of only in lowered tones.
The Inquisition calls it cleansed. Survivors call it cursed. Gangers call it profit. Whatever name it takes, Hive Secundus no longer belongs to the Imperium alone.
The rot began in the hydro-shafts—deep below the manufactoria. A Magos Biologis named Hermiatus saw potential in captured xenos genomes. He thought he could master the tyranid strain, harness it for augmentative evolution. Instead, the gene-seed corrupted. Workers disappeared. Children changed. Minds began to echo with alien thoughts.
By the time the Inquisition arrived, the cult controlled half the hive. The purge was merciless. Orbital strikes collapsed the upper sectors. Regiments of Astra Militarum, Tempestus Scions, and local PDF stormed the ruins. Chemical cleansing and melta-saturation followed. Whole districts burned to cinder. The Magos vanished—some say into the void, others say deeper into the hive.
But the cleansing was incomplete. And the cult remembers.
Hive Secundus is a grave, not a ruin. The spires are shattered ribs along the skyline. Ash-choked craters mark former plazas. Wind howls through broken minarets and tangled ferrocrete. Trenches coil around the hive’s base—scarred battle lines still manned by paranoid PDF patrols.
The Upper Hive is gone. Collapsed into itself or blasted into orbit. Only skeletal bridges and burnt pillars remain.
The Mid-Hive is navigable, but unstable. Vaults shift. Corridors echo with distant footsteps not your own.
The Underhive is a nest. Bioluminescent fungus grows in abandoned railways. Breeding pits stir. Icons of the Four-Armed Emperor linger on blasted chapel walls.
The deeper one goes, the more the silence hums. Not empty—waiting.
A few human enclaves remain—feral, scarred, and clinging to habit. They barter with scavengers, mark safe tunnels in blood glyphs, and fear loud noises. The PDF call them "ferals" or "infected." The Inquisition calls them liabilities. But some know things—hidden caches, working lifts, old command codes.
Genestealer remnants use psychic lures to draw in fresh prey.
Survivors gather in enclaves like Thorncoil Hold, Ironhook Gap, and Wormspire Rest.
Scavenger crews, tech-hunters, and bounty rings enter by bribe or silence, hoping to extract relics or bio-tech. Few return whole.
The cult itself is wounded—but not broken. It hides, grows, and whispers through shared minds. New patriarchs may rise. Old tunnels may open. The Inquisition knows this—and watches.
Officially, Hive Secundus is under quarantine. All access requires signed orders from the Necromunda High Authority or sanctioned Inquisitorial agents. Trespassers are marked for execution. In practice, permits are forged, bribes exchanged, and desperate expeditions launched in secret.
Entry Points include the Collapsed West Rail, Quarantine Gate 19-B, and the Flooded Hab-Crypts.
No sanctioned psykers may operate within the hive without escort.
No recoveries from below Level Theta-6 are to be brought topside without full gene-purity inspection.
Several black-market paths into Secundus exist—though most are booby-trapped or infested.
Hive Secundus is a setting of dread and desperation. It rewards careful planning, brave salvage, and ruthless moral decisions.
Players may:
Investigate missing Inquisitorial kill-teams.
Navigate shifting allegiances among feral human enclaves.
Track rogue bio-augmentors selling xenos organs in Primus.
Uncover the final project of Magos Hermiatus—possibly still alive, possibly mutated.
Seal or exploit warp-breaches formed during the purge.
Choose to destroy hidden gene-nests—or claim their power.
Nothing in Secundus is clean. Every step forward leaves something behind—blood, a secret, or a friend.
Hive Secundus used to chant in time with Imperial protocol. Now, it whispers in alien tones. Light does not behave the same in its depths. Echoes arrive before footfalls. The air tastes wrong.
But there is profit in ruins. And glory, if you survive long enough to claim it.
