Bark at the Moon
Bark at the moon is the local tavern and it operates a brothel upstairs. People come here to seek pleasure and drown their sorrows with a strong brew. It also attracts some of the more unsavory types who come here to discreetly conduct business in the cellar and sub level chambers below. Rumor has it that there are hidden underground tunnels beneath the village that connect here. The owner is unknown but many villagers assume it is run by a secretive underground organization.
Bitter Moon Inn
The Bitter Moon Inn is a hotel and feasting hall where travelers and locals alike congregate. It's 1 SP a night for a basic room. For a larger room with multiple beds it is 3 SP per night. 1 CP for a mug of ale and 5 CP for a standard meal. It's a good place to learn the lore of Dravenburg or hear any local gossip or rumors.
Bronze Warhorse Statue
A bronze statue commissioned by the late Baron Uther Rostovich of his beloved warhorse. It is said the famous sculpter Voltaire who created the statue sold his soul to a devil in exchange for talent and wealth. When the Baron went to fetch Voltaire for the unveiling he was no where to be found, and only the smell of sulfur and brimstone remained in his empty workshop. During the unveiling ceremony Baron Uther stood proudly in front of the towering bronze horse, but when sudden tremors shook the ground the statue fell upon the unfortunate Baron killing him instantly. It is said Uther Rostovich's soul is trapped inside the statue and it is cursed. Any one who touches the statue must run to the fountain and wash their hands, or their soul will be cursed and trapped inside the bronze horse when they die.
Chapel of Saint Karmicheal
A place for people to mourn the dead and deal with the grief and sorrow of their daily struggle to survive. Most people in the realm of Gothica believe the gods have forsaken them, that the gods have been replaced by eldritch horrors from the depths of the void. There are still a few people who pray to the gods and seek devine power to overcome the darkness. Priests, clerics, monks, and paladins can usually be found at sacred sites and buildings around Gothica. And the burden of carrying the dying light of civilization rests heavily on their shoulders.
Derelict Villa
A dark over grown path leads into the forest to the old Rostovich family villa. No one knows what happened here or why it was abandoned. The forest has reclaimed the surrounding gardens and the derelict villa is in a state of disrepair. A withered shadow of it's former decadence. The locals avoid it claiming it to be cursed and haunted.
Draven Manor
The oldest building in the village was built by it's founder Luther Draven. The old stone mansion has a mysterious aura about it. It is said to be abandoned, and the Baron claims repairs would be too costly. No one has been seen entering or leaving the manor in a long time. Baron Rostovich has posted guards at the gate to prevent looting and squatters from trespassing. The mansion is surrounded by tall stone walls that keep it's exterior gardens secluded. There is much intrigue and mystery that surrounds Draven Manor. Some say they have seen erie lights late at night. Others claim to have caught glimpses of shadows moving through the mist and fog that seems to hang about the place. The guards even whisper about strange occurances they can't explain.
East Watch Towers
Two towers stand guard to the road heading into Dravenburg from the east. Each tower has 2 watchmen with halberds and 3 militamen on the second floor of the tower armed with crossbows. Each guardtower is equipped with a bell to sound alarm when needed. The road heading east leads into the Whispering Hollows forest.
Etrigan's Tower
An arcane tower inhabited by a reclusive wizard known as Etrigan the Wise. Etrigan has warded his tower with magic and usually only accepts visitors who have been formerly invited, which rarely happens. Those who get close to the tower feel the sensation that they are being watched. Villagers warn that stone gargoyles will come to life and swoop down on unwanted guests. Etrigan has come to the defense of Dravenburg in the past. But these instances have been rare or when the village is faced with extremely dire circumstances. Some say Etrigan made a pact with the Rostovich family long ago. Others speak to the fact that Etrigan chose Dravenburg because it is secluded and out of the way. There is another tale that suggests Etrigan used to be the Grand Magus in service to the King, but they had a falling out and Etrigan was banished to the arcane tower in Dravenburg. Only Etrigan knows the truth which he never confirms nor denies.
Flowing Fortunes
In the center of the village's market square stands a stone statue of a beautiful maiden depicted with eels swirling around her body from the mouths of the eels water sprays down into a fountain pool. The statue has dark green ivy growing all over it. It is said if you toss 1 CP in the fountain you will be blessed all day. Also legend has it washing your hands in the fountain will clense you of curses. Many shops surround the fountain such as a butcher, baker, and candlestick maker. There is also a tailor, and a food market with a general supply shop here.
Forsaken Lumber Mill
The abandoned lumber mill, a decaying relic of a forgotten era, is ensnared at the edge of a vast, gnarled forest. Its rotting structure and ominous, rusted saw blades are reminders of its once-mighty past, now consumed by nature's relentless reclamation. A thick, cold mist wraps around its broken machinery, casting an eerie atmosphere where whispers of the lost linger, ensuring that the mill remains a place of dread and mystery.
Greymantle Cemetery
Dravenburg's graveyard contains a mortuary parlor and the Rostovich mausoleum. The hangman's tree is a grusome sight and grows behind the parlor house. Skeletons are often found hanging in the tree but no one knows where they come from. It is a gloomy and quiet place during the day. Few come to mourn and pay respect to the dead. It is said you can hear echos of the dead or faint whispers from beyond the grave. None come at night for fear of encountering haunting apparitions or other undead creatures. There have also been reports of grave lootings and missing bodies in the past.
Rostovich Keep
The keep is where the current Baron of Dravenburg resides. It is the local point of political power. The day to day rule of the barony and surrounding territory occurs here. It is lavish, well defended and fortified. It has a noble court and all the intrigue that transpires here impacts the entire village and surrounding lands. The people in the village don't know or care about what goes on here, they are too busy struggling to pay their taxes and survive. Perhaps that is how the Baron wants it to be.
Silver Drake Supplies
This building is more modern and has a less gloomy atmosphere. The blue roof and newer stone work also sets it apart from the bleak and old architecture of the rest of Dravenburg. The shop is heavily stocked with a large variety of items. And as most of the villagers will tell you, if you seek it, you will find it at Silver Drake Supplies. Even though it is the newest shop in the village it has quickly become it's mercantile hub. Despite the optomistic tone of the shop many of it's trade caravans meet an ill fate on the road. And supply disruption only seems to be increasing.
Tired Nag
The Tired Nag is the local horse stable. It provides cheap food and water and a place to stable horses for 1 CP per day. For and extra 3 CP they will bathe and brush a horse and feed it hearty oats. If the horse requires new horse shoes they cost 1 SP each and they will fit and mount the shoes.
Village Magistrate
This is the center of justice and security of Dravenburg. There is a court room for the Magistrate to hold trials. It also contains a barracks and armory for the village watchmen and militia to use. There are jail cells in the lower level. There used to be more heavily armed and well trained guards in Dravneburg. But it seems on a weekly basis another guard will go missing or die in the line of duty. The Magistrate has been trying to fill the ranks by recruiting militia but he is losing men faster than he can recruit them. The Baron has offered little in the way of support. If things continue on this way the village could soon be overun by villains and foul creatures from the surrounding forest.
West Watch Towers
Two towers stand guard to the road heading into Dravenburg from the west. Each tower has 2 watchmen with halberds and 3 militamen on the second floor of the tower armed with crossbows. Each guardtower is equipped with a bell to sound alarm when needed.
