Abyros Economy & Gear
@Abyros thrives not on peace or tradition, but on relentless supply, magical innovation, and weaponized ambition. The city’s economy is equal parts trade network, gear-based meritocracy, and volatile relic speculation. Gold still has value — but raw arcana is priceless.
Currency:
Guild Marks: Stamped currency unique to each guild, convertible via citywide exchange hubs. Some vendors prefer specific guild coin.
Relic Credits: Issued for Dungeon finds; act as high-tier tokens to barter relic fragments, crafting rights, and gear commissions.
Favor Contracts: Written obligations, often signed in blood, promising future services or alliances. Extremely valuable.
Gold: Gold is the most common currency used in markets
Gear Tiers:
Equipment in @Abyros is rank-locked, and crafted or enchanted to reflect guild-specific doctrine. Gear defines status.
Common: Worn by civilians, Rank E adventurers
Tuned: Standard adventuring gear, matched to class (Rank D/C)
Fused: Elementally or psionically enhanced (Rank C+)
Relic-Bound: Crafted with Dungeon materials or enchanted from recovered tech (Rank B+)
Myth-Synthetic: Custom-designed, unstable, often semi-sentient (Rank A/S only)
Each guild’s forge (e.g., Inferno Crucible, Voltforge, Coldforge) uses unique techniques. Cross-guild commissions are rare and politically sensitive.
Relic Economy:
Recovered items from the Dungeon are evaluated by guild appraisers, auctioned in relic exchanges, or quietly sold in:
@Apex Bazaar
@Halo Bazaar
@Emberstep Market
Guilds tax all relics at 10–40% value unless the finder is Rank A+, who may claim full rights. Brokers act as intermediaries, negotiators, or smugglers — depending on who pays more.
Black Market Dynamics:
Despite Guild Council efforts, a thriving black market operates in Thornveil and Mireforge. It trades in:
Prohibited relics
Mutation serums
Experimental psionic constructs
Rogue enchantments
Rumors speak of a 9th Market hidden deep within the Dungeon itself, accessible only via forgotten floors and mind-key glyphs.
Cultural Impact:
Gear is identity. Economic worth isn’t measured in coin, but in what you can survive using, sell under pressure, or wear to a Council meeting without being laughed out of it. In @Abyros , your next purchase may be your last advantage.
