Legends & Myths of Aethertide

The waters of @Aethertide are steeped in memory—not all of it true, and not all of it false. Some stories are told around hearths, others whispered at sea. Many are part truth, part magic, and part warning. These are the living myths, still shaping tides, travel, and terror.

The Singing Hull

A ghost ship that hums a haunting melody over the waves. Some say it brings luck; others claim it heralds doom. Those who echo its tune may find treasure... or find themselves humming it until they vanish.

The Lantern Bride

A spectral woman in white seen walking across moonlit reefs. If you leave her a candle, she disappears. If you ignore her, she boards your ship and whispers every secret you’ve ever tried to hide.

The Sea That Swims Itself

A current said to loop endlessly through time. Ships caught in it disappear for years, returning unchanged—with crews who haven’t aged and maps to places that no longer exist.

The Spiral Prophet

A drowned priest said to have sunken with a temple now located within @Siren’s Spiral . His voice still surfaces through conch shells or storm winds, giving visions of the future in maddening riddles.

The Ship of One Hundred Flags

A warship that flies the banners of every nation it has destroyed. It is said to rise from the @The Gyre of Lost Souls once per decade to collect the dead and the dishonored.

Echo Curses & Saltbound Tales

Stories in Aethertide often function as magical anchors:

  • Echo Curses – Myths that bind themselves to storytellers, causing events to repeat or manifest

  • Saltbound Tales – Legends passed only at sea, imbued with protective or summoning magic

Many captains employ bards not for song—but to speak a myth aloud before dangerous voyages, ensuring the sea hears it first.

"Aethertide is not a place of truth or lies—it is a place of belief. And belief, here, floats."

To know these myths is to sail with one hand on the tiller, and one on a ghost’s shoulder.
