The Stormshroud Shogunate of Nami no Kuni
Far beyond the furthest mapped routes of @Aethertide lies Nami no Kuni, a hidden archipelago veiled by storms, treacherous currents, and the will of its rulers. Most Aethertide sailors know it only from whispered Kaijinsei tales or drifting relics caught in ghost currents. Yet behind the serene discipline of the Kaijinsei lies another face of Nami no Kuni—a warlike and expansionist power known as the @Stormshroud Shogunate .
Origins and Purpose
The @Stormshroud Shogunate arose from a lineage of warlords and sea-generals who unified Nami no Kuni’s outer isles under the banner of the Crimson Wave Standard. Bound by ancient sea-oaths and fortified by the storm-forges of the eastern cliffs, they have long viewed the outside world as a rightful proving ground for their fleets.
While the Kaijinsei exile themselves to seek balance abroad, the Shogunate trains tirelessly for conquest—its admirals seeking routes beyond the mists that protect their homeland.
Strength and Methods
Armored Skycutters: Massive warships with hulls lacquered in red and black, capable of both sea and sky passage through bound wind-spirits.
Stormsteel Blades: Weapons forged from ore drawn from undersea volcanoes, rumored to cut even through enchanted hulls.
Tidecall Legions: Regiments of disciplined marine soldiers who fight with spear and spell in perfect formation.
The Shogunate’s fleets are guided by storm-oracles who can scatter enemy formations with summoned tempests or choke their harbors with tidebound fog.
Ambitions Toward Aethertide
The Shogunate sees @Aethertide not as an equal, but as an untamed frontier—ripe for subjugation.
@The Coral Regency is viewed as a strategic prize, granting mastery over the @Glassmere Sea
@The Free Keys Confederacy is considered a nest of piracy to be “cleansed” and repurposed.
@The Veythane Empire is seen as the only rival worthy of naval respect, and thus the first obstacle to be broken.
For now, the distance and dangers between Nami no Kuni and @Aethertide delay any invasion. But storm scouts have been sighted in the @Howling Reach Sea and the far Frostvein currents—testing the waters. Nobody understood how they come and go so quickly.
Kaijinsei and the Shogunate
@The Tidecallers of Nami no Kuni view the @Stormshroud Shogunate as a corruption of their shared heritage. While the Tidecallers heal and preserve, the Shogunate seeks to dominate and reshape. Kaijinsei wanderers in Aethertide often act as quiet sentinels, watching for signs that the Crimson Wave fleets have found a way through the veil of storms.
"When the crimson sails breach the mist, the tide will turn—and it will not be gentle."
The Stormshroud Shogunate remains unseen by most in @Aethertide , but the threat lingers like distant thunder. One day, the storms that guard Nami no Kuni may part—and the war tides will come.
