Total War Doctrine
Warfare in the Endless Unity is waged at the scale of star-systems and star-sectors, with individual planets treated as tactical battlefields rather than strategic objectives. The paradigm is one of total war, where no distinction exists between civilian and military targets. Mass extermination, mundicide strikes, and inter-system missiles capable of sterilizing worlds represent standard methods of engagement. All other approaches are employed solely because total annihilation demands resources that are not always immediately available. Terror serves as a deliberate instrument of policy, with overwhelming force deployed to break collective will before organized resistance can solidify. During the Great Schism, successor states occasionally view enemy civilian populations as targets for propaganda and conversion rather than immediate extermination, a recent deviation specific to post-Unity civil conflict.
Concealment Warfare
The standard, academic military doctrine known as 'Concealment Warfare' emerged from the Traphon War as a comprehensive philosophy governing all domains of conflict, mandating the systematic concealment of fleet dispositions, supply infrastructure, industrial output, and strategic intent to deny enemies coherent targets at every level of warfare. In the subsequent era of expansion and technological proliferation, the Unity increasingly treated distributed void formations, @Exoplanetary Commandos, Rapid Assault Cruisers, and hidden logistical networks as sufficient alternatives to total mobilization. The War of the Chosen shattered this assumption, demonstrating that certain forms of concealed positioning, undercover guerrilla warfare, and dispersed supply architecture become impossible or meaningless when true massive-scale conflict erupts. Today, concealment warfare remains predominantly ground-based, characterized by tunnel excavation at vast depths beneath planetary crusts, seismic monitoring to locate enemy movement, and the maintenance of subterranean networks that shield forces from surface detection and orbital fire.
Prior to the Traphon War, military orthodoxy held that void warfare was the only branch of consequence, with planetary surfaces regarded as mere prizes to be claimed after orbital supremacy was secured. The Traphon War shattered this assumption by demonstrating that torpedo-drop insertion could bypass even formidable orbital defenses, allowing highly trained exoplanetary commandos to establish themselves deep within hostile worlds and wreak absolute havoc behind enemy lines. Entire planets could be effectively neutralized without formal conquest, as embedded insurgents established subterranean munitions factories, systematically destroyed manufactories, waged terror campaigns against local leadership, and assassinated key figures to paralyze economic and military function.
The Sector Mobilization Forces were developed primarily to serve as local counter-insurgency elements, designed to root out embedded commandos rather than to deploy onto enemy-held territory.
Complementing this, First Artillery refers to planetary-scale artillery systems capable of firing munitions on suborbital trajectories to strike any point on a given world, providing surface forces with rapid precision fires without relying on vulnerable orbital platforms.
Second Artillery represents a heavier interplanetary extension of this concept, involving the establishment of concealed manufactories upon Oort comets, asteroids, or secured planetoids within a star-system to locally produce antimatter-tipped projectiles that are continuously launched against enemy-held planets or orbital installations nearby. This practice is deeply integrated with concealment warfare doctrine, requiring the silent seizure of stellar bodies and the construction of hidden industrial sites that can sustain prolonged bombardment campaigns without presenting identifiable targets.
Third Artillery emerged following the Gene-Wars as a strategic-scale instrument of total war, employing massive Inter-System Missiles—effectively one-time-use starships tipped with enormous antimatter warheads—to strike targets across interstellar and even galactic distances.
The FORCE (Forward Operations Rapid Combat Echelon) serves as an array of specialized special forces units, encompassing everything from highly elite @Exoplanetary Commandos and void-combat pilots to psionic hunters and battlefield infiltration specialists.
Attrition and Aggregate Cost
The Unity approaches warfare through aggregate resource expenditure rather than individual preservation. State biomanufactories produce populations at industrial scale, rendering biological soldiers functionally expendable within logistical calculations, treating them as little more than another type of autonomous battleform. Command decisions weigh replacement cost against infrastructure damage inflicted, treating living personnel as quantifiable materiel alongside ammunition and shield energy. Prisoner-taking is virtually unheard of, as captives represent logistical burden without bargaining value. Retreat preserves military assets and key fighting forces while sacrificing civilian populations and immobile infrastructure that cannot be evacuated in time. During the Traphon War and the War of the Chosen, the Sector Mobilization Forces implemented mass conscription, pressing civilian populations into battlesuit-equipped combat roles under radically differing technological conditions.
Combat Engineering and Autonomous Systems
Warfare is as much an engineering discipline as a martial one. Front-line engineers maintain equipment under fire, excavate tunnels, stabilize subterranean infrastructure, deploy planetary shields, and emplace both improvised and non-improvised traps alongside autoform swarms. Battleforms serve at massive scale alongside biological infantry, possessing superior reaction times and environmental resilience but lacking the flexible long-term cognition of living soldiers. In void warfare, firebird pilots direct strike craft while controlling automated wingmates. Bioforms, rare legacy experiments from the Gene-Wars era integrating biological tissue into mechanical frameworks, appear in limited civilian and military applications with marginally superior adaptive cognition. The Soldier chargant, and its sub-chargants in the @Soldier (Appolorion Genus), @Soldier (Marcurion Genus) , @Soldier (Primus Genus), etc. were all engineered as a purpose-built biological combatant, objectively superior to other genestocks in warfare. Since the War of the Chosen, however, the notion that these specialists alone can bear the burden of conflict has been discarded; when catastrophe strikes, every available body is pressed into service.
Weapons and Environment
Antimatter serves as the premier weapon of void warfare and the lifeblood of the economy, but its use in exoplanetary operations is severely restricted. Electrological sensors detect even minute quantities of antimatter at planetary scale, directly contradicting the principles of concealment warfare. Nuclear weapons, detectable via radiological sensors but less easily located than antimatter, see occasional use in planetary assaults. When forces possess void superiority, annihilator units—specialized formations equipped with nuclear and antimatter weapons—conduct surface operations without fear of detection-based reprisal. Biological weapons exist but prove limited in effectiveness against the universal deployment of vacuum-sealed battlesuits.
Psionics
Prior to the War of the Chosen, the Endless Unity maintained strict censorship over all psionic phenomena, concealing the very existence of the nethereal from public knowledge. This suppression collapsed when the Unity confronted an enemy that wielded psionic capabilities as a standard instrument of war, and was completely reversed by the efforts of @Khiro Velenar, whose arguably greatest legacy was in establishing psion-based organizations within the Endless Unity, and teaching the ways of the nethereal to the Endless peoples.
In the present era, psions remain rare and inherently unstable. Those few psions who can be harnessed serve in reconnaissance, intelligence gathering, and special operations where their unique perception provides decisive advantage; their talents are considered too valuable for routine front-line attrition.
The @Mandate of Light, having a large number of de-facto stable psions via the @Lightblessed, stands in a unique position. This key successor-state alone is able to field psionic operatives at significant scale through its @Lightblessed cadres, granting a substantial advantage over rivals that treat psionic warfare as an irregular auxiliary function.
