Neverborn

Nethereal entities, termed 'Neverborn', are spirits born from the deep and unknowable folds of reality's substrate—sentient fragments of the infinite void between dimensions. In their native nethereal dimensions, they exist as incomprehensible concepts: probabilities made aware, thoughts that think themselves, timeless and infinite.

Neverborn enter the material universe through binding—voluntary or sorcerous. Powerful psions can invoke rituals that tear holes between realms, offering the Neverborn artificial matter to inhabit. Some entities accept this binding willingly, trading timeless existence for physical sensation and material psionic energy. Others are dragged screaming into reality, shackled by alchemical runes and crystalline matrices that force compliance through pain. Once bound, Neverborn must maintain their physical form through constant psionic expenditure or risk dissolution.

In their bound state, Neverborn manifest through unnatural physical forms that violate physics—shifting matrices of programmable photonic matter, electromagnetic storms given solid state, or crystalline lattices existing in multiple spatial positions simultaneously. Voluntary bindings create stable, intelligent entities capable of complex strategy. Forced bindings produce feral monsters driven by rage All Neverborn wield psionic power without biological limitation, manipulate reality as an extension of will, and view material life as sustenance or irrelevance.

The @Shadow Stalker is perhaps the most commonly encountered type of Neverborn entity - a menace that possesses the bodies of its dying victims in between bouts of activity, where it takes on its more innate shadowy form. This predator is known to lurk the impoverished lower levels of vast ecumeneopoli, where its existence is sustained a ready supply of fresh bodies, as well as the subtle psionic energy of collective struggle and suffering.

The @Kthon Meat-Golem is another type of Neverborn entity wrought by alchemical binding—a spirit bound by @Kthon sorcerers into a mass of fused corpses to create disposable warbeasts. These feral monsters hunt by scenting psionic energy, serving as shock troops while constantly regenerating their host bodies.

The @Magnetosphere Leviathan is another example of a Neverborn entity, and represents forced binding—a psionic predator shackled by @Kthon sorcery into an electromagnetic storm spanning hundreds of kilometers, hunting through electromagnetic resonance.

The @Data Phantom is another type of Neverborn entity; an immensely powerful spirit whose nature aligns into telepathy and technopathy, corrupting reality itself into algorithmic patterns.

The @Possessed Smartfire Construct represents another type of Neverborn spirit, which has chosen to inhabit an @Altaran @Smartfire Construct and its corresponding smartfire projector's generator-matrix.

These Neverborn persist, drawn to high psionic activity, each manifestation a reminder that the nethereal is not merely a power source but a living, hungry dimension pressing against reality's fragile walls.
