Deep Blue

Congratulations Colonist, you have been chosen for colonization wave 4546B. You have the honor to be under the first [redacted] colonists set foot on Deep Blue, a giant water world. This promising world, discovered [redacted] years ago is a beautiful sight to be seen. Currently there are [redacted] active colonies on Deep Blue. You departure will be tomorrow. Designated officers will pick you up at 08:00. Non-appearance will result in [redacted]. Thank you for making room on earth.

Earth is at it's limit. The population size is ever growing, vastly outnumbering the planet's ressources. As a result humanity searched for other habitable planets. The few colonies are not (yet) able to sustain and feed the population. To reduce the population size, colonisation goes on. Colonists are chosen via lottery. Planets are chosen by lottery. To win means to get a place on a colonyship and to travel to distant planets to establish well funded colonies. To lose means to get a place on a transportship, to travel in cryosleep, to be cramed in a landing shuttle or capsule and to suspended on a planet. Ressources and supplies are not included. You can salvage what is left of the shuttle and it's rations, but that's it. Resistance gets crushed brutally. Some people call themselves adventurers and prepare themselves to tame dangerous planets. Some die, some survive. You and the batch you are shipped with... you lost the lottery. But other than most, you got at least kind of lucky. The transportship suffered a terrorist attack in orbit and crashed, right after your shuttle launched. Many came before you, many will come after you.
