Creatures
CREATURES
There are countless species on the planet. Each one has its own unique trait that sets it apart from others of its kind. While many species may be similar to some earth species, they are often very different for various reasons. These creatures serve all different purposes in the circle of life.
The animals that have the most look-a-likes tend to be rodents, deer-like animals, crustaceans, insects, and fish. There are more, but these are the most common. Animals that seem to follow similar builds can be found all over the planet.
Limbs
All invertebrates on the the surface of the planet are related to one fish, just like earth. This single species evolved to go on land. It had six fins that eventually grew into all the different limbs of today. This means that all species with spines have up to six before it becomes a mutation or birth defect.
The most common build has four legs at the front, and two at the back. Four back legs is very uncommon. Four legs, and even two or no legs is very much possible, and is seen in various dragon species.
The Bird Issue
While Birds are extremely common on earth, this is because they used to be avian dinosaurs. This planet has had dragons instead of dinosaurs, so birds are not completely a thing. Instead, the closest bird-like animals came from proto-dragons. So, while these bird-adjacent creatures are related to dragons, they are not true dragons nor true birds. They merely mimic a similar niche as birds do. Many have changed their diets to being omnivores, with less being full carnivores.
Canon Animals
Here will be a small list of established animals:
Furback: A bison-like animal. It has a very large hump between its shoulders, and a very furry front with short hair on the behind. It has hooves, bad eye sight, and it tends to be brown. Like many creatures, it has four front legs and two hind legs.
Delk: A deer-like animal. It has large ears, antlers, hooves, and a small tail. It also has four front legs and two back ones, the most common build for creatures. It eats plants of all kinds.
grassy hoofbeast: A creature with hooves and a medium sized tail. This creature has no horns or antlers, instead having long, thick hair on its back that looks like tall grass from far away. They are herd animals that stick together to form large patches of "grass" to hide themselves at a distance.
Heliojelly: This is a water creature. They look similar to jellyfish and even live in the water. However, the life cycle of this animal is very different. They spend their lives eating, slowly filling up with hydrogen until they fill up too much and float into the sky. They will end up clumping together in "clouds", where they use their hydrogen for their eggs so they float in the sky, most often sitting in clouds. During rains, these eggs will fall to the ground. If it hits water, it'll hatch and start the cycle all over again.
Bluuz: These are just straight up bees. They look similar and do similar stuff. Not much to say. Though many species of these rely on dragons to help keep them safe from predators.
Dominant Species
The dominant species on the planet are Dragons and Humans. There are no others, and concepts such as dwarves, elves, orcs, and other fantasy creatures have been lost due to time. There should never be any other humanoid creature other than Humans.
