Dragon History

Pre-Dragons

Before the dragons we know today, and before the Proto-dragons, we have Pre-Dragons. These were creatures that had evolved from sea serpents to live entirely on land. Many of them had proto-wings that helped them glide and run. Others opted for extra arms to run faster.

Pre-dragons were shaped like many dragons, but lacked a lot of what we think of as dragons. No magical breath, no flying. They were mostly on the ground, serving as hunters. Many distinct body types got their start here.

Proto-Dragons

These are much closer to the dragons of today, but still do not have magical breath. While many of them use magic to defend themselves, to do tricks, or in food as a visual aid or vinegar-like taste. This is around the time they spot humans and decide to mimick their society somewhat. Proto-dragons settle down, learn to farm and keep livestock, trade, and eventually make their own governments. Their society rockets quickly as dragons around the continent begin to create settlements all over.

When Proto-Dragons discovered magic, they started to use it and experiment on it a lot. Eventually they used it so much and so often that they evolved magic sacks. The moment they discovered how to make fire magic, they quickly shot into the bronze age. They began using metals and developed new tech. Fire became the most used element due to how useful it was.
