Magic Introductory

Raw Magic

This is a unique substance that exists on this planet due to an explosion that happened long ago. A element inside the explosion and the aftermath combined with molten rock to create a highly reactive substance.

In its natural state, magic is a highly corrosive liquid full of various minerals. It can be found within the same channels as lava is found, sometimes even over takening them with time and forcing the magma to go other ways. It can also be found in areas with volcanic activity, meaning it is not uncommon for it to leak into the earth or bubble up and form pools.

This amazing substance has been used for centuries, and has had many uses. Seeing as magic can change forms, it is easy to come up with different uses for it all. Seeing as it is a liquid still, it can evaporate into a cloud— and even be made to make crystals. Those three forms are able to create all sorts of different reactions that form the staples of life.

Magic Sickness

Unfortunately, this amazing liquid comes at a steep price. Too much of it can give anything magic sickness, a disease where the body eats itself and starts to rot while still alive. While some earth cultures consider that to be zombies, the cultures on this planet are much different. They still regard these sick individuals as lost souls, but not as undead, as they never died before the rotting happened.

Depending on how the magic infected you, via through cut, diet, inhaling, or otherwise, the rot will start at the point of infection, then attack the outside as it slowly spreads deeper. This process has been known to mutate and give the person strange immortality instead in rare cases. Those that mutate are often seen as divine in some way. This is usually because of a perceived notion that they are closer to the gods than mortals.

This mutation of the sickness is often because of the magic sacks, but it has been known to happen without them— as is shown with the first known demi-god, a proto-dragon. Most humans have not proven strong enough to handle this mutation, as it also greatly exasperates mental conditions and personality quirks. Other creatures rarely last long enough to see if they did mutate, and often die to outside reasons.

Crystals

Magic can be made into various crystals! These crystals can hold all sorts of abilities, and take dedication to make. While they can be found in caves full of vaporized magic clouds, or inside magic streams themselves, they are mostly made by dragons. They hoard the technology in fear of the wrong humans getting ahold of it.

The most common forms of crystals are fire, ice, electricity, poison, and health. Other crystals exist as well, but those see every day use. Many are used on weapons for added effects, some are used in devices, and some are even crushed into powders. With so many uses, you can get very creative!

Fog

When evaporated into a mist, magic fog can be acidic. How much so depends on the concentration. It can also hold other effects depending on the spell. There is not much to say about this form of magic, as it can only do so much. It is sometimes found naturally in caves where a pocket or stream of magic is near by.
