Platinum Credit

Platinum Credit

The post-Opening economy standardized around a three-tier currency so Breakers, blocs, and civilians can trade across fortified corridors without confusion. This universal currency was established by the @GGA. The strong unit of account is the Platinum Credit (PC), cleared on inter-bloc ledgers and used for bounties, contracts, bulk logistics, and escrow. One Platinum Credit equals 10 Credits, and one Credit equals 10 Cred-Bits. Cred-Bits are the everyday coin of markets and street stalls; Credits are city-scale tender for services, travel, rent, and clinics; Platinum Credits are the reserve unit that anchors them both and moves between blocs (@EDDU, @PLDC, @DCRA, @GGA) via audited exchange houses and Union banks.

Most settlements accept all three, with redundant offline chits for blackout zones that redeem at Gate Belt exchanges when networks are live. Prices posted at gatefronts and convoy depots usually list in Credits with a Platinum Credit equivalent; neighborhood markets list in Cred-Bits with Credit roll-ups for bundles. Cross-border trade, hazard insurance, and bounty boards denominate in Platinum Credits to keep payouts stable when local conditions swing. Barter exists in the margins (water, fuel rations, med stock), but official ledgers always reconcile back to PCs, Credits, and Cred-Bits.

Typical civilian prices (to guide valuation; equipment/gear priced elsewhere):

  • Street snack or hot drink: 2–5 Cred-Bits; sit-down canteen meal: 12–20 Cred-Bits (1–2 Credits).

  • Week of basic groceries for one: 6–10 Credits; for a family of four: 18–28 Credits.

  • Transit single ride: 1–2 Cred-Bits; day pass: 1 Credit; week pass: 5 Credits.

  • Evac-block dorm bunk (per night): 1–2 Credits; roadside motel in a secure belt: 3–5 Credits; mid-range city hotel: 7–10 Credits (≈1 Platinum Credit); business-class fortress hotel or safehouse: 2–3 Platinum Credits.

  • Basic clinic visit: 2–4 Credits; urgent trauma triage co-pay at a Union hospital: ~1 Platinum Credit (more if out-of-bloc).

  • Intercity armored coach (one-way on common corridors): 3–7 Credits; gatefront hazard-zone caravan seat: ½–1 Platinum Credit.

As a rule of thumb, Cred-Bits cover moments, Credits cover days and weeks, and Platinum Credits cover risks, distance, and trust. City treasuries peg Credits to the Platinum Credit via bloc clearinghouses, and licensed markets must display both Credit and PC rates for major services. Bounties, salvage auctions, and long-haul contracts are posted and settled in Platinum Credits; wages and per-diems are paid in Credits with Cred-Bit stipends for daily spend. This structure keeps local trade nimble while ensuring that what matters—security, food lines, and Breaker work—remains priced in a unit strong enough to cross any gate.
