@Wasteland Human
Appearance/Variants: Scavengers, Tribals, Settlers. Often visibly weathered, sporting sun-damaged skin, scars, and practical, mismatched gear.
Concrete Statistics: The average lifespan for a wasteland human is only 45 to 55 years due to violence and poor medical care.
Reputation & Uses: The absolute baseline. They fit in everywhere, draw no immediate prejudice, and can seamlessly blend into the NCR, local gangs, or independent settlements.
@Pureblood Human
Appearance/Variants: Vault Dwellers, Enclave Personnel, NCR Core-State Aristocrats. Typically taller, possessing pristine teeth, unblemished skin, and clean hair.
Concrete Statistics: Thanks to pristine genetics and advanced medicine, their average lifespan is 75 to 85 years. However, their unexposed immune systems suffer a 20% higher susceptibility to wasteland illnesses (like rust lung or rad-poisoning).
Reputation & Uses: Highly valued for their literacy and technical education, making them excellent medics or scientists. However, wastelanders often view them as soft, naive, or dangerously arrogant targets ripe for extortion.
@Ghoul
Appearance/Variants: Necrotic Post-Humans. Variants include the standard Ghoul (raspy voice, flaking skin) and the incredibly rare, highly irradiated Glowing One (emits ambient radiation, serves as a beacon for ferals).
Concrete Statistics: They are functionally immortal (living 200+ years with no cellular aging).
Reputation & Uses: Valued by mechanics and historians for their pre-war knowledge, but subjected to intense, widespread prejudice. They are barred from entering places like the Ultra-Luxe and are often shot on sight by panicked wastelanders or the Brotherhood of Steel chapters.
@Super Mutant: Mariposa
Appearance/Variants: Towering, heavily muscled, green-to-yellow skin, entirely hairless.
Concrete Statistics: They stand an average of 2.4 to 2.8 meters (8 to 9 feet) tall and weigh upwards of 800 lbs. They possess a 100% sterility rate (unable to reproduce) and boast absolute immunity to radiation and FEV mutations.
Reputation & Uses: Terrifying to the average wastelander. They make unparalleled heavy-weapons platforms and melee fighters. While East Coast mutants are shoot-on-sight monsters, West Coast mutants often surprise players with deep philosophical insight and articulate speech, provided they aren't actively being shot at.
@Nightkin
Appearance/Variants: Dark blue or purple skin, bloodshot eyes, often wearing makeshift hoods or goggles to block out the sun.
Concrete Statistics: An estimated 95% of all living Nightkin suffer from severe, irreversible schizophrenia and visual hallucinations due to chemical damage to their frontal lobes from prolonged Stealth Boy use.
Reputation & Uses: The ultimate boogeymen. They are feared even by other Super Mutants. Playing a Nightkin requires managing extreme paranoia and a painful sensitivity to bright lights, making them specialized nocturnal stealth-assassins.
@Prototype Synth (Gen 3)
Appearance/Variants: Biologically indistinguishable from Pureblood Humans.
Concrete Statistics: A statistical anomaly in California. There are perhaps fewer than 10 to 15 of these individuals in the entire western United States in 2280. They do not age, cannot gain or lose weight, and their brains process and retain memory with 100% perfect recall.
Reputation & Uses: Nobody in the Mojave knows what a Synth is. The danger comes entirely from within: the player must live in constant, crippling paranoia of being discovered, relying on their enhanced physical reflexes and perfect memory while hiding their synthetic component from medical scanners.
