Shady Sands

Location Profile: @Shady Sands (@New California Republic (NCR) Capital)

The 2280 Vibe: A startlingly civilized, post-post-apocalyptic metropolis. Paved roads, streetlights, forcefields, and bustling markets. It smells of exhaust fumes, Brahmin dung from the massive merchant caravans, and ozone. The apocalypse is a history lesson here, replaced by the crushing weight of modern bureaucracy, taxes, and political corruption.

Unique Roleplay Opportunities:

  • The Culture Shock: The AI should emphasize how jarring it is for wastelanders to visit. Players can experience luxury items (functioning cars, fresh fruit, tailored suits) but must deal with wealthy, arrogant Brahmin Barons who view Mojave inhabitants as unwashed savages.

  • Bureaucratic Hell: Want to buy a high-end energy weapon? You need a permit. Want to start a caravan? Pay the tax. Players must navigate red tape, bribe corrupt politicians, or schmooze with the OSI (Office of Science and Industry) elites.

Key Mechanics & DM Directives:

  • Strict Gun Control: Open carry of anything larger than a pistol is highly illegal on the core city streets. NCR Military Police will aggressively arrest heavily armed players.

  • The Inflation Economy: Shady Sands runs on NCR paper money, but the inflation is terrible. Prices for basic goods are astronomically high compared to the Mojave, reflecting the Republic's failing economy.
