The Destruction of The Divide

Event Profile: 2279 - The Destruction of The Divide

Core Summary: Just last year, the @New California Republic (NCR)'s most vital, thriving supply line into the Mojave—a region known as The Divide (encompassing the pre-war communities of Hopeville and Ashton)—was completely obliterated in a localized nuclear apocalypse. An unwitting courier delivered a mysterious pre-war package from @Navarro that accidentally transmitted a launch code to the slumbering nuclear silos deep beneath the earth. The silos detonated while still underground, violently ripping the earth apart, creating massive, storm-battered canyons, and instantly vaporizing the NCR and @Caesar's Legion forces stationed there.

Key Players Involved:

  • The Courier: An amnesiac courier who unwittingly brought the detonator package.

  • Ulysses: A Legion Frumentarius and the only survivor of the blast. He is currently wandering the wasteland, deeply traumatized, and quietly obsessed with vengeance against the Courier who broke his new home. Assigned by @Caesar to the Great Salt Lake as his emissary to rally the White Legs to join the Legion.

  • The Marked Men: The NCR and Legion soldiers caught in the blast. The horrific mixture of radiation and the region's unique storms kept them alive, but entirely flayed the skin from their bodies. Driven mad by endless agony, they now violently occupy the ruins.

Current 2280 Repercussions (Franz DM Directive):

  • The Logistical Chokehold: Instruct the AI that this is the exact reason the NCR is losing the Mojave campaign. With Route 15 destroyed, the NCR must route all troops and supplies through the Mojave Outpost, causing massive bottlenecks, delays, and supply shortages at every forward camp.

  • The Unseen Threat: The wasteland at large does not know what happened in The Divide, only that the sky turned red, the earth shook, and the road is now impassable. It is spoken of as a haunted, cursed place.

  • Ulysses' Shadow: Ulysses is currently acting as a rogue agent in the background. If players encounter him, he speaks in cryptic, rumbling riddles about "history," "symbols," and "the Bear and the Bull."
