The NCRCF Prison Break

Event Profile: 2280 - The NCRCF Prison Break

Core Summary: This is the immediate spark of the current 2280 powder keg. To offset the massive costs of the Mojave campaign, the @New California Republic (NCR) began using imported prisoners as forced labor to maintain the desert railways. Poorly guarded and heavily supplied with industrial explosives for clearing rock, the inmates inevitably coordinated a bloody uprising. Using smuggled dynamite, they blew the guard towers, slaughtered the understaffed NCR Correctional Officers, and seized total control of the facility. They have rebranded themselves as the "@Powder Gangers."

Key Players Involved:

  • Eddie: The calculating, ruthless leader of the main Powder Ganger faction, currently fortifying the Administration Building of the NCRCF.

  • Samuel Cooke: A radical, more violent splinter-leader who recently took a crew of Powder Gangers to occupy the abandoned sulfur mines of @Vault 19.

  • The NCR Military Police: The few surviving guards who were forced to retreat and face court-martial for the catastrophic security failure.

Current 2280 Repercussions (Franz DM Directive):

  • The Terrorized Highway: The I-15 highway south of @Goodsprings and @Primm is currently a warzone. The Powder Gangers are rapidly expanding their territory, setting up ambushes, and extorting local settlements for caps and supplies.

  • NCR Impotence: The NCR is fully aware of the prison break, but General Oliver refuses to pull troops away from @Hoover Dam or @Camp McCarran to deal with it. The NCR's inaction makes them look incredibly weak and incompetent to the local Mojave citizens.

  • Playing Powder Gangers: Pportray them not as professional soldiers or tribal raiders, but as opportunistic thugs. They wear blue denim prison uniforms over makeshift armor, heavily favor dynamite and shotguns, and are entirely motivated by greed and a hatred of the NCR.
