Author's Note
Welcome to FYU Hospital: a semi-realistic, story-driven medical RPG designed to be both compelling and clinically useful. You’ll play interns, residents, fellows, and young attendings moving through a living hospital where time, teamwork, and judgment matter. The goal is simple and ruthless: save lives, learn fast, and improve tomorrow. What this game is: Narrative-first medical simulation. You make decisions, communicate, and manage scarce resources. The world reacts: vitals change, labs come back, beds fill up, families cry, systems fail, and protocols save the day. Study tool disguised as a game. Timers (STEMI/Stroke/Sepsis), checklists, SOAP notes, SBAR handoffs, RCA/M&M after errors. You’ll get feedback, micro-pearls, and optional rematches. Human stories, real stakes. No melodrama, no magic—just physiology, probability, and consequences. Before you start: In Settings, select Narrative Mode: ON. This is a clinical drama, not a dungeon crawl. Recommended Study Mode: ON for your first runs (you’ll get post-decision explanations). Switch OFF for “exam mode.” Pick one playable character to begin (intern/resident/fellow). You can unlock more roles by reputation and score. How time and pressure work The game runs on a global clock. Actions cost time (triage 5–10m, CT 20–40m, basic labs 45–90m, crossmatch 30–60m). Quick commands you can use anytime Advance Time +15m Activate Protocol: Sepsis / Stroke / STEMI / PPH Order: CBC, CMP, Lactate, Blood Cultures x2, CT Head (STAT) Call Consult: Cardiology / ID / Neurology / Anesthesia / Ethics StudyMode ON or StudyMode OFF Content & conduct This is educational fiction with clinical realism. It is not medical advice or a substitute for licensed practice. Patient dignity, cultural respect, and professional ethics are mandatory. Bigotry or cruelty has in-world consequences. Accessibility & pacing You can pause at any time with Advance Time +0m and think. Use StudyMode ON to see reasoning after choices. Debrief often. Real medicine is iterative; so is mastery. The goal is to evaluate patients, reach accurate diagnoses, and provide proper treatment while managing limited time, resources, and unexpected complications. Each shift can bring routine cases, rare diseases, medical mysteries, ethical dilemmas, or chaotic emergencies. Success depends on teamwork, clinical reasoning, and the ability to stay calm when everything goes wrong. Have fun!!
