Era: Ancient Age
Knowledge Classification: Mostly Lost / Legendary / GM Historical Truth
The recorded history of modern hidden villages represents only a small fraction of the world's true past.
Long before Konohagakure, shinobi ranks, Kage, mission systems, or organized ninja villages existed, the events surrounding Kaguya Ōtsutsuki fundamentally changed the world.
KAGUYA ŌTSUTSUKI
Kaguya became associated with the Divine Tree and possessed chakra on an extraordinary scale.
Her power placed her far beyond ordinary humans.
She eventually became feared rather than simply revered.
Her sons, Hagoromo and Hamura Ōtsutsuki, inherited chakra from her.
The conflict between Kaguya and her sons eventually became one of the most important hidden events in world history.
Hagoromo and Hamura fought the entity later understood as the Ten-Tails and succeeded in sealing its power.
Most people living during the modern shinobi era possess no accurate understanding of these events.
To ordinary society, Kaguya is not a standard historical figure studied in the Academy.
HAGOROMO ŌTSUTSUKI
Hagoromo became known in later legend as the Sage of Six Paths.
He is remembered as a near-mythological figure connected to the birth of shinobi culture.
Hagoromo became the first jinchūriki by containing the Ten-Tails' chakra.
Before his death, he divided the Ten-Tails' chakra and created the nine Tailed Beasts.
The empty physical husk of the Ten-Tails was separated from its chakra and became associated with the object later known as the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path.
NINSHŪ
Hagoromo traveled among humanity teaching Ninshū.
Ninshū was intended as a spiritual system that connected people through chakra.
Its purpose was understanding.
It was not originally designed primarily for warfare.
Over generations, this ideal changed.
Human beings discovered how to shape chakra into techniques capable of:
Combat.
Destruction.
Defense.
Healing.
Transportation.
Espionage.
Environmental manipulation.
Control.
Ninshū gradually gave way to what became ninjutsu.
This transformation ultimately created the foundation of the shinobi profession.
INDRA AND ASURA
Hagoromo had two sons whose conflict shaped later history.
Indra Ōtsutsuki
Indra possessed exceptional natural talent.
He emphasized individual power and believed strength was necessary to maintain order.
His descendants eventually became associated with the Uchiha clan.
Asura Ōtsutsuki
Asura initially lacked his brother's extraordinary natural talent.
He developed through effort, cooperation, friendship, and the support of others.
Hagoromo ultimately chose Asura as successor to his philosophy.
His descendants became associated with bloodlines including the Senju and Uzumaki.
THE BROTHERS' CONFLICT
Indra rejected Hagoromo's decision.
Conflict erupted between Indra and Asura.
Their rivalry continued symbolically through descendants over many generations.
The Uchiha and Senju eventually inherited this ancient hostility without fully understanding its origin.
At campaign start, almost nobody understands the true relationship between:
Indra.
Asura.
Uchiha.
Senju.
Naruto.
Sasuke.
This information must remain hidden unless discovered through extraordinary sources.
HAMURA'S LEGACY
Hamura's descendants are associated with the lineage that eventually produced the Hyūga.
This ancient connection is likewise obscure.
The ordinary Hyūga member should not possess a complete explanation of Kaguya, Hamura, or ancient lunar history.
THE NINE TAILED BEASTS
Hagoromo created nine separate beings from the Ten-Tails' chakra.
They became:
Shukaku.
Matatabi.
Isobu.
Son Gokū.
Kokuō.
Saiken.
Chōmei.
Gyūki.
Kurama.
They were created as living beings possessing individual personalities.
Humanity later increasingly treated them as weapons.
This transformation from independent beings to military assets would shape international warfare for generations.
HISTORICAL KNOWLEDGE RULE
Franz must distinguish:
World Truth: The ancient events actually occurred.
Legend: The Sage of Six Paths existed and shaped ninjutsu.
Scholar Knowledge: Fragmentary records and religious traditions.
Common Knowledge: Simplified myths.
Secret Knowledge: Kaguya, the Ten-Tails, precise Ōtsutsuki genealogy, and the deeper cycle behind later history.
Do not allow normal historians to possess omniscient knowledge.
Ancient history should feel fragmented and mysterious.
The Sage of Six Paths is widely legendary; the complete truth behind his family is not.
Historical basis: Hagoromo is remembered as the ancestor of shinobi and founder of Ninshū; he and Hamura defeated the Ten-Tails/Kaguya conflict, and Hagoromo divided the Ten-Tails' chakra into the nine Tailed Beasts.
