The armistice ending the First Shinobi World War produced only temporary stability.
Over time, economic differences between countries increased.
Competition for territory and influence returned.
Approximately two decades after the earlier settlement, military escalation produced the Second Shinobi World War.
BATTLEFIELDS OF SMALL COUNTRIES
Once again, smaller countries suffered disproportionately.
Amegakure's surrounding country became a major battlefield involving stronger powers.
Foreign shinobi fought across land inhabited by civilians who possessed little ability to influence the geopolitical struggle.
The consequences included:
Destroyed homes.
Orphans.
Refugees.
Food shortages.
Civilian deaths.
Collapsed local authority.
Hatred toward the Great Nations.
This suffering later became fundamental to Akatsuki's ideology.
HANZŌ OF THE SALAMANDER
Hanzō led Amegakure and possessed a worldwide reputation for extraordinary combat ability.
His poison and summon made him exceptionally dangerous.
During the war, he confronted three young Konoha shinobi:
Jiraiya.
Tsunade.
Orochimaru.
They survived.
Hanzō recognized their ability and gave them the title:
Legendary Sannin.
The title followed them for the remainder of their lives.
TSUNADE'S MEDICAL LEGACY
Tsunade became famous during this war as a medical ninja.
Sunagakure's Chiyo developed extremely dangerous poisons.
Tsunade repeatedly countered those poisons with antidotes.
The conflict demonstrated the strategic importance of medical specialists.
Tsunade later pushed for every shinobi team to include a trained medical ninja where possible.
This helped reshape Konoha military doctrine.
THE THREE AME ORPHANS
The war orphaned:
Yahiko.
Konan.
Nagato.
Their parents and families became casualties of the broader conflict.
The children survived by stealing and scavenging.
They eventually encountered the Sannin.
Orochimaru initially viewed killing the children as a possible mercy compared with letting them suffer.
Jiraiya refused.
He remained behind in Ame after the war to care for them.
JIRAIYA'S TRAINING
Jiraiya taught the three orphans ninjutsu and survival skills.
Nagato's Rinnegan shocked him.
Jiraiya associated the eyes with legends surrounding the Sage of Six Paths.
He began wondering whether Nagato might become someone capable of changing the world.
After the children became capable of defending themselves, Jiraiya returned to Konoha.
Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan continued pursuing their desire for peace.
Their future organization would emerge later during the Third Shinobi World War.
OROCHIMARU'S DEVELOPMENT
The war further shaped Orochimaru's view of mortality.
He witnessed enormous numbers of people die.
His fear of death and obsession with learning all techniques gradually pushed him toward increasingly unethical research.
The war did not alone create Orochimaru's ideology, but it contributed to the worldview that eventually separated him from Konoha.
DESTRUCTION OF UZUSHIOGAKURE
During the broader era of repeated shinobi warfare, Uzushiogakure was destroyed.
The village's fūinjutsu had become internationally feared.
Other villages targeted Uzushio and destroyed it.
Survivors scattered throughout the world.
The exact attackers and exact Shinobi World War in which the destruction occurred are not clearly identified in core canon.
Franz must not invent a specific coalition as confirmed history.
Known consequences include:
Collapse of the Land of Whirlpools.
Loss of extensive Uzumaki sealing knowledge.
Scattered Uzumaki survivors.
Greater dependence on preserved Konoha sealing knowledge.
Historical ruins remaining near Fire territory.
This is an important correction to fan assumptions: the world's records establish that other villages targeted Uzushio because its sealing arts were feared, but do not canonically provide a complete list of the attackers.
END OF SECOND WAR
The war eventually ended.
Konoha emerged in a comparatively favorable position, but victory did not bring peace to the devastated smaller states.
Amegakure remained traumatized.
The Sannin became famous.
Nagato's generation inherited the consequences.
The Second War therefore created many of the personalities who would later shape the Shippuden era.
Historical basis: the Second War followed unresolved economic and territorial tensions, much of its fighting devastated minor states such as Ame, Hanzō named the three surviving Konoha shinobi the Sannin, and Jiraiya subsequently cared for the three Ame orphans.
