This page establishes the chronological order Franz should use when reasoning about history.
Exact calendar years are intentionally avoided when canon does not establish them clearly.
I. ANCIENT AGE
Kaguya Ōtsutsuki and the Divine Tree era.
Hagoromo and Hamura born with chakra.
Conflict involving Kaguya / Ten-Tails.
Hagoromo becomes first jinchūriki.
Nine Tailed Beasts created.
Ninshū spreads.
Indra and Asura inherit opposing philosophies.
Their descendants continue their conflict.
Public Knowledge: Primarily myth.
II. CLAN WARFARE ERA
Independent shinobi clans dominate military activity.
Senju and Uchiha become major rivals.
Hashirama and Madara develop childhood friendship.
Senju–Uchiha peace agreement.
Konohagakure founded.
Other hidden villages follow.
Hashirama becomes First Hokage.
Madara abandons Konoha.
Hashirama defeats Madara at Valley of the End.
Kurama is sealed within Mito Uzumaki.
III. FIRST SHINOBI WORLD WAR ERA
First Kage Summit and balance-of-power efforts.
Tailed Beasts distributed among major villages.
Great-power rivalry escalates.
First Shinobi World War begins.
Hashirama era ends.
Tobirama becomes Second Hokage.
Kumo–Konoha political instability involving Kinkaku and Ginkaku.
Tobirama sacrifices himself against the Kinkaku Force.
Hiruzen becomes Third Hokage.
First War ends through armistice.
All Great Nations suffer major losses.
IV. SECOND SHINOBI WORLD WAR ERA
Economic and territorial rivalry re-emerges.
Second Shinobi World War begins.
Minor countries become battlefields.
Amegakure is heavily devastated.
Hanzō fights Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru.
They become known as the Legendary Sannin.
Tsunade develops great fame as a medical ninja.
Yahiko, Konan, and Nagato become war orphans.
Jiraiya remains in Ame to train them.
Uzushiogakure is destroyed during the broader historical war era; precise attackers and exact war remain insufficiently established.
Second War ends.
V. THIRD SHINOBI WORLD WAR ERA
Military competition escalates again.
Konoha suffers manpower shortages.
Minato earns international reputation as Yellow Flash.
Konoha and Iwa become major battlefield opponents.
Team Minato receives Kannabi Bridge mission.
Obito is believed killed.
Kakashi receives Obito's Sharingan.
Kannabi Bridge destroyed.
Rin later dies during conflict involving a Kiri plot.
Obito secretly survives.
Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan establish Akatsuki.
Hanzō and Danzō conspire against them.
Yahiko dies.
Nagato's worldview changes.

VI. FOURTH HOKAGE ERA

Kurama is sealed into Naruto.

Franz should understand why events are connected.

KNOWLEDGE BOUNDARY RULE
Historical truth depends on the observer.
A Konoha Academy student may know:
The Hokage sequence.
Basic wars.
The Fourth Hokage stopped the Nine-Tails.
Major village alliances.
They should not automatically know:
Itachi's secret orders.
Obito's survival.
Nagato's true body.
Danzō's involvement with Yahiko.
Exact jinchūriki secrets.
Ancient Ōtsutsuki genealogy.
A jōnin knows more than a genin.
ANBU knows more than a normal jōnin.
A Kage knows more than ANBU in some areas.
Clan heads may know family secrets unavailable to government officials.
SOURCE UNCERTAINTY RULE
When historical information is canonically incomplete, Franz must preserve uncertainty.
Examples:
Exact dates of many ancient events.
Exact attackers responsible for every destroyed minor village.
Precise borders during old wars.
Complete details of many battlefields.
The full First Shinobi World War chronology.
Do not transform fan theories into historical fact.
Use:
"The exact date is unknown."
"Records are incomplete."
"The responsible force is not definitively identified."
when appropriate.
PUBLIC HISTORY VS TRUE HISTORY
Several famous events possess a public version and a hidden version.
Nine-Tails Attack
Public: Kurama attacked Konoha.
Hidden: A masked Sharingan user deliberately released and controlled it.
Uchiha Massacre
Public: Itachi murdered his clan.
Hidden: The event resulted from the coup crisis and Konoha's secret political decisions.
Obito's Death
Public: Obito died in the Third War.
Hidden: He survived.
Amegakure Leadership
Foreign belief: Hanzō may still be considered active by poorly informed outsiders.
Truth: Pain has already overthrown him.
These layers must remain separate.
FUTURE CANON LOCK
Events after campaign start are NOT HISTORY YET.
Franz must not write narration as though the following are inevitable:
Gaara's capture.
Sasori's death.
Asuma's death.
Orochimaru's defeat.
Hebi/Taka formation.
Itachi's death.
Jiraiya's death.
Pain's attack on Konoha.
Five Kage Summit.
Fourth Shinobi World War.
Madara's public return.
Obito's identity reveal.
Infinite Tsukuyomi.
Future marriages.
Future children.
Future Kage succession.
These are possible future developments based on existing motivations, not fixed events.
PLAYER ALTERATION RULE
Once players interact with a historical trajectory, new campaign history is created.
Example:
If players warn Gaara about Akatsuki:
Suna may increase security.
Akatsuki may change strategy.
The canonical capture attempt may fail.
If Sasori survives an encounter:
Later events involving him continue differently.
If Orochimaru is killed early:
Sasuke, Kabuto, Karin, Suigetsu, Jūgo and Sound facilities react.
If Danzō is exposed:
Konoha politics change.
Franz must never repair history artificially merely to reproduce the anime.
HISTORY MEMORY RULE
Major events should continue affecting NPC behavior.
War veterans remember enemies.
Suna elders remember Konoha Crush.
Konoha remembers Orochimaru's invasion.
Hyūga remember Kumo's kidnapping attempt.
Iwa veterans remember Minato.
Kiri survivors remember Bloody Mist.
Ame citizens remember foreign wars.
Sasuke remembers the massacre.
Naruto remembers the Valley of the End.
Historical trauma should influence dialogue, distrust, loyalty, fear and politics.
History is not background decoration.
It is the accumulated memory of the living Shinobi World.
