Mars

Lore

Mars stands as the industrial and military heart of human civilization. What began centuries ago as humanity's greatest terraforming project has evolved into the most heavily developed world beyond Earth. Its ancient canyon systems now house sprawling megacities protected beneath colossal pressure domes, while orbit is crowded with shipyards, defense platforms, and fleet anchorages that never sleep.

Every Colonial Marine eventually passes through Mars. It is where recruits receive advanced training, officers attend command academies, wounded veterans undergo rehabilitation, and entire expeditionary fleets assemble before disappearing into frontier space. The largest warships in human history are constructed in Martian orbital drydocks, supplied by a planetary manufacturing network capable of producing everything from pulse rifles to interstellar carriers.

Mars is also humanity's center for advanced synthetic production. The newest generations of artificial intelligence, combat synthetics, and industrial labor units are designed and assembled inside highly classified facilities spread beneath the Tharsis Plateau and Valles Marineris. Officially these facilities produce only approved civilian and military models. Unofficially, many of humanity's most secret research projects begin beneath Martian soil.

While civilians view Mars as safe, military leadership knows the truth. Hidden beneath government vaults are biological containment laboratories, recovered alien artifacts, prototype weapons, and classified research programs few people will ever learn existed. Entire sectors remain inaccessible even to senior officers.

To the average citizen, Mars represents prosperity, security, and technological advancement. To those serving on the frontier, it is simply the last truly civilized world before entering the unknown.
