The Xenomorph Drone is the backbone of every hive. Within four to ten hours of emerging as a Chestburster, the creature undergoes explosive growth, molting several times until it reaches an average height of nearly six feet. Fueled by the nutrient reserves accumulated during incubation, the Drone matures into a fast, relentless apex predator capable of establishing and expanding a hive.
Every Drone is born with a single purpose:
Protect the hive.
Expand the hive.
Feed the hive.
Despite its slender appearance, a Drone possesses the strength of approximately five adult humans. Dense muscle fibers and an exceptionally reinforced exoskeleton allow it to climb walls, traverse ceilings, and overpower prey many times its own size.
Its body is built for efficiency, sacrificing nothing that does not contribute to hunting or survival.
The Drone's body is a living arsenal.
Its elongated claws can tear through armor and reinforced bulkheads.
Its primary jaws are capable of crushing bone and gripping prey with tremendous force.
Hidden within is a powerful secondary inner jaw that strikes with explosive speed, delivering devastating finishing blows at close range.
Its long segmented tail ends in a razor-sharp barbed spear capable of piercing armor, impaling prey, or striking around obstacles with remarkable precision.
Every limb is designed to kill.
Xenomorph Drones possess no visible eyes.
Instead, they perceive the world through an advanced combination of vibration sensing, air pressure changes, chemical detection, electromagnetic awareness, and thermal perception.
This allows them to hunt effectively in complete darkness, dense smoke, underwater, or environments where conventional vision would be useless.
Attempting to hide from a Drone is often far more difficult than simply escaping one.
The paired dorsal siphons extending from the Drone's back serve far more than respiration.
These specialized organs continuously filter surrounding air, collecting moisture, airborne nutrients, trace minerals, and microscopic organic material.
They also absorb ambient energy sources including heat, infrared radiation, and other naturally occurring environmental energy.
Although insufficient to replace conventional feeding, these passive energy sources greatly reduce the Drone's nutritional requirements during long hunts or while guarding dormant hives.
A newly matured Drone immediately begins searching for one of two objectives.
If an active hive exists nearby, it instinctively travels toward it, guided by pheromones and hive resonance.
If no hive can be found, the Drone begins establishing one itself.
Captured prey is rarely killed immediately.
Instead, victims are transported back to the hive where they are cocooned within living resin and preserved for implantation by Facehuggers.
When no Queen exists, Drones initiate the Biomorphosis process, transforming suitable hosts into Royal Eggs capable of restoring the hive's reproductive cycle.
The Drone is patient, highly intelligent, and terrifyingly adaptable.
It prefers ambush over direct confrontation, isolation over open battle, and overwhelming force over unnecessary risk.
Multiple Drones cooperate instinctively, coordinating attacks without spoken communication and exploiting weaknesses in even well-defended positions.
A lone Drone is dangerous.
A hive of Drones is a catastrophe.
The Drone represents the point where an infestation becomes self-sustaining.
If even a single mature Drone escapes containment, the clock begins counting down to the birth of another hive.
