The matoran Universe is a ocean & series of islands and continents inside the massive robot Mata Nui


Author's Note: The geography, landscape and climate varies from island to island. The entire Matoran Universe is encased in a giant collossal Robot Body which is as big as a Planet. The Robot's name is the Great Spiri Mata Nui and he is the God of the planet within the giant robot's body. The Matoran Universe was comprised of a variety of domes; massive individual caves separated by gates with oceans and islands of their own. Climate on nearly everaly island is evenly divided by areas of the six main elements, ie. Fire villages (lava), ice villages (snow), Air villages (jungle), Water village (ocean), Rock village (Desert) and Earth Village (under ground cave systems). Some cities like Metru Nui are futuristic and made of metal. The inhabitants of the former Matoran Universe are normally about 85% mechanical and 15% organic, while the natives of the Spherus Magna are around 85% organic with 15% mechanical implants. It was made by the Great Beings and watched over by the Great Spirit Mata Nui himself before Teridax succeeded

Artakha

Artakha, known as the Great Refuge, is a legendary island governed by the powerful being Artakha, home to the world's finest Matoran builders. Though it appears as a peaceful paradise filled with advanced technology and crafted wonders, it is equally capable of transforming into a land of chaos, depending on the whims of its ruler. Cut off from the outside world after the devastating invasion by the Brotherhood of Makuta, Artakha is shrouded in mystery, its location erased from maps and its secrets fiercely protected. While a place of creation and artistry where remarkable artifacts were forged, it now stands isolated, a testament to its storied past.

Artidax

Artidax

Artidax is a desolate volcanic island shrouded in mystery and treachery, once a prison for the powerful Makuta Miserix. The island is characterized by its black sand beaches that pulse with life and volcanic peaks that loom ominously against the sky. Despite its barren appearance, Artidax holds countless dangers, from its living sands that can ensnare intruders to a dark tunnel slumbering beneath a fragile vine, ready to seal away the unwary. An air of foreboding surrounds this forsaken place, echoing its dark history and the promise of vengeance waiting to be unleashed.

Bara Magna

Bara Magna

Bara Magna is a vast, arid landscape dominated by sprawling deserts and the occasional oasis, housing several sapient species such as the Agori, Glatorian, and Skrall. The land is punctuated by towering mountains like the Black Spike Mountains, and a unique sea of quicksand known as the Sea of Liquid Sand. Amidst this harsh environment, intricate communities such as the Fire Village of Vulcanus and the Jungle Village of Tesara provide refuge. The land also harbors treacherous creatures and resources, like the spiky Thornax fruit, integral to the arena culture of the Glatorian.

Bota Magna

Bota Magna

Bota Magna, known as the Great Jungle, was once a vibrant forest region of Spherus Magna. Following The Shattering, this lush expanse transformed into a moon orbiting Bara Magna. The jungle is a rich habitat hosting various tribes, including the Jungle Tribe, while the surrounding mountain range is home to the stalwart Rock Tribe. Echoes of the Iron Tribe and Earth Tribe resonate within the thick foliage, and hidden deep within the jungle lies the cell of a Great Being, whose descent into madness culminated in their imprisonment, casting a shadow over this once-peaceful land.

Daxia

Daxia

Daxia is a tropical island that serves as the enigmatic base for the Order of Mata Nui, known for its strategic importance in the grand plans of the universe. The landscape is vibrant yet dangerous, filled with exotic plants and very few species of Rahi, most of which pose a significant threat. The island's defenses are formidable, featuring advanced weaponry and a self-destruction mechanism to safeguard its secrets from intruders. There is a sculpture in Daxia which shows a Bohrok and an Av-Matoran. This was meant to symbolize the relationship between the Av-Matoran and the Bohrok. The Av-Matoran also bears physical similarities to Balta.

Destral

Destral

Once a place of light and creation, Destral has transformed into a dark bastion of greed, now serving as the headquarters for the Brotherhood of Makuta. The sprawling fortress, built almost entirely on the island it occupies, is a labyrinth of sinister workshops, grim laboratories, and ominous prisons. Its beaches are patrolled by menacing Visorak and Rahkshi, all while hidden traps lay in wait for any who dare to enter. The spirit of the Brotherhood lingers in the air, with experimentation ongoing and a looming threat of darkness ready to unleash chaos upon the world.

Karda Nui

Karda Nui

Karda Nui, the Universe Core, serves as Mata Nui's heart within the Great Spirit Robot. This expansive cave holds a mysterious swamp known as the Swamp of Secrets, interspersed with towering stalactites that have lost their tips, leaving flat-topped pillars. Once the domain of the Av-Matoran, it is now a forgotten realm, sheltering ancient secrets and the echoes of a bygone time when guardians roamed its depths.

Karzahni

Karzahni

Karzahni is a desolate and haunting realm where the ground screams beneath every step and the air is thick with heat, reminiscent of a flame-gilded furnace. This cursed land is marred by the remnants of its past, with volcanoes exhaling burning ice and waterfalls of dust cascading down jagged cliffs. Legends speak of Matoran sent here for their failures, only to be transformed into statues if they dared to rest upon its blighted rocks. Amidst the eerie landscape lies a solitary room where an Av-Matoran tirelessly crafts Toa Canisters, surrounded by the echoing cries of this land's tortured past. Accessible only through perilous paths teeming with Manas, Karzahni remains a realm of darkness, where hope is but a distant memory.

Keetongu and Tahtorak's Homeland

Once a vibrant sanctuary for the unique species of Keetongu and Tahtorak, this island now bears the scars of a tragic past. Time has erased much of its former glory, leaving behind remnants of a lush environment overrun by the remnants of conflict and decay. Although Keetongu escaped, the echoes of his people’s plight linger like shadows amidst the thick foliage and crumbling structures of this forsaken land.

Mahri Nui

Mahri Nui

Once part of the grand island of Voya Nui, Mahri Nui now rests beneath the waves, surrounded by vast fields of Airweed that sustain its resilient Matoran inhabitants. The village, built amidst the guardian air bubbles, is a testament to survival, with the Matoran council convening within the formidable Mahri Nui Fortress. The ruins of the Stone Cord can still be seen, leading to the depths where the echoes of their lost land linger.

Mata Nui

Mata Nui is a mystical island located on Aqua Magna, created from a segment of Spherus Magna and named after the Great Spirit. The island is divided into six distinct regions, each embodying a different elemental domain and home to the industrious Matoran people led by their Turaga elders. Despite its enchanting beauty, the island carries a history of struggle and transformation, culminating in a cataclysm that reshaped its very foundations.

Metru Nui, the City of Legends, is a bustling metropolis lying in the mind of the Great Spirit Mata Nui. Filled with the industrious Matoran, the city is divided into six districts, each dedicated to different elemental crafts that are crucial for the health of Mata Nui. The central Coliseum stands as the heart of the city, where sporting events occur and the power station hums with energy, while the pervasive mists give the illusion of a sky above. Underneath this grand city lies the vast Silver Sea of Liquid Protodermis, while shadows of the past and the specters of crime linger in every corner.

Nynrah Island

Nynrah Island, once a thriving stronghold of Fe-Matoran known as the Nynrah Ghosts, is now a haunting remnant of its past. Perched on a high cliff overlooking the churning sea, the small village buzzes with tales of its fallen crafters who once modified armors for the Brotherhood of Makuta. The island lies strategically positioned south of Odina and north of Visorak, shrouded in mystery and shadows of betrayal.

Odina

Odina is a heavily fortified island, long known as the primary base of the Dark Hunters. Its towering mountains create a natural barrier, making it extremely difficult to approach. The island is home to various facilities where both new and seasoned Dark Hunters are rigorously trained. The infamous fortress of 'The Shadowed One' looms over the landscape, serving as the command point for the current Dark Hunters during the Brotherhood of Makuta War. Although it was a secretive stronghold, Odina has recently been overrun by Rahkshi, prompting the Dark Hunters to seek refuge elsewhere.

Stelt

Stelt

Stelt is a harsh and desolate island characterized by its rocky terrain and willingness to host brutal battles in its numerous arenas. Once the homeland of the notorious Sidorak and Krekka, Stelt is overseen by its own Makuta, ensuring order amid chaos. The island is populated by Steltian traders and brute laborers, who navigate between the remains of old shacks and destroyed structures, all while making use of the various ports and sea routes that dot its coastline.

The Red Star Haven

The Red Star Haven

Nestled atop the volcanic cliffs of Mata Nui, The Red Star Haven is an ethereal sanctuary where the remnants of the once-mighty Great Spirit Robot are kept. The air hums with an ancient energy, remnants of past attempts to summon the Red Star, now a permanent fixture in the night sky. Rituals and prophecies intertwine among its revered temples, as the luminous glow of the Red Star casts a crimson hue over the surrounding landscape, signifying the weight of memories and destinies intertwined.

Once a realm of mystery and ancient power, Tren Krom's Island stands as a testament to the Great Beings' attempts to contain the eldritch being known as Tren Krom. It features rocky beaches, towering walls of stone, and a cave partially submerged in ominous waters. Known for its erratic topology controlled by Tren Krom himself, the island's environment shifts unpredictably, bathed in an eerie atmosphere that threatens to unravel the sanity of those who dare to linger. The haunting hallmarks of Tren Krom's presence remain palpable in every shadow and whisper of the winds.

Visorak Isle

Visorak Isle

Once a simple and peaceful place, Visorak Isle fell into chaos when Makuta Chirox unleashed the monstrous Visorak upon its inhabitants. The island now stands as a haunting reminder of its dark past, where only a few brave souls survived the spider-like onslaught and fled to distant lands. Abandoned structures echo the memories of lost lives, while the landscape is marred by the remnants of the creatures bred by the Makuta, their legacy forever intertwined with the land.

Voya Nui

Voya Nui

Voya Nui is a mysterious and ancient island that was born from the cataclysmic upheaval of the Southern Continent. Floating on the surface of Aqua Magna, it is shrouded in legend and surrounded by treacherous waters known as the Sea of Blackness. The island's surface is a wild tapestry of landscapes, filled with lush vegetation in the Green Belt, ominous cliffs of the Matoran Cliff Village, and the eerie darkness of the Zone of Nightmares. Beneath its surface lie extensive caverns, including the Cavern of Historical Records and the Mask of Life Chamber, where secrets and dangers intertwine. The Island’s frigid Ice Ring preserves its existence, echoing the vital need to protect its secrets from the universe beyond.

Xia

Xia

Xia is an environmentally devastated island marked by industrial decay and ruin. Once a vibrant land, the island fell victim to a calamitous event that rendered it inhospitable, and for centuries it has been transformed into a colossal weapon manufacturing hub. The air is thick with fumes from factory smokestacks, and acid rain pummels the ground, slowly corroding what little life remains. Towering over the barren landscape is a sentient mountain, revered by the locals as 'The Mountain', a remnant of an era long past that quietly observes the anguish unfolding below. The legacy of greed and death haunts this island, where the worth of life is measured by profit.

Zakaz

Zakaz

Once a vibrant tropical paradise, Zakaz now lies in ruins, an eerie reminder of its violent past. The air is thick with the remnants of battle, and the landscape is scattered with remnants of Skakdi civilizations. The ground is scorched and the vegetation is wilting, while hollow structures of the once-advanced cities rise up like skeletal remains against the darkened sky, mired in stories of betrayal and civil strife. Shadows of past brutalities linger, and the occasional roar of a Tahtorak echoes through the desolation, hinting at the intelligence of the beasts that once roamed freely.
