Player Information

This world is set up to use narrative combat, I cannot promise it will be balanced if you choose to use turn based.

General Guide

Much, if not all of this you may already know, but information is here to help newer players find their feet.

  • When using abilities or spells (spells you can use via the spell icon on the bottom left of your input box (+ to expand the menu on mobile), for using features or abilities best practice is to @abilityname which pulls it into Franz' context, meaning he has the information to use the ability correctly.

  • Setting your game to manual rather than the default continue allows you to queue up several actions, or set actions and make a roll for it in a single turn (bottom left of your input box or + to expand menu on mobile). This approach works well for narrative combat, keeping the flow as you're making your rolls within your turn. Describing your moves as "I attempt to strike the bandit" rather than "I strike the bandit" helps the ai process that it's an attempt and may fail.

  • Tagging items, npcs, locations etc, as well as abilities or spells with @ greatly help Franz get things right, eg rather than prompting with "I travel north to Delannar Ascent" or even just "I travel north", Franz is not great at cardinal directions, prompting with "I travel north to @DestinationName" or you can, if you wish, open the map and get the coordinates for whatever point on the map you wish to travel too and prompt "I travel to/towards X:Y" Teleportation magics should work with that as well, if you give him a specific destination, you'll have an easier time.

  • Be precise in your prompting, Franz can't really read emotion, so if you're being sarcastic or anything like that, include it in your prompt, eg rather than saying 'I reply "Oh, wonderful, just wonderful." say 'I reply sarcastically "Oh, wonderful, just wonderful.". Use exposition in your own prompts to help remind Franz, eg include in your prompt why you're going into the clandestine midnight windmill meeting, or who you're there to meet.

  • If Franz gets stuff wrong, it's easier to just delete the message and have him retry the turn, or edit it yourself. Arguing with Franz will just fill his context with an unhelpful back and forth of him trying to say what he thinks you want, likely ending up with unwanted context blocks and cluttering up your space. It's quicker and cleaner to delete or edit.

  • Franz has a limited context, this is something to be aware of if you're using a lot of context blocks, or playing a world with a lot of instruction blocks. Going too heavy on this means Franz is going to be less space to handle other things, like memories, or if there's a dozen instruction blocks taking up most of your active context then there's very little space for other information (eg what is happening or has just happened) to get included in the scene.
