Description
The Estes Sea is an ocean-ruled world of scattered islands, layered depths, and pearl-powered fate. Pearls fuel ships, weapons, bodies, and empires—Meito (elemental), Kokuto (blood), Yoto (siddhi), and Cursed. Pirates, Privateers, Buccaneers, and Bounty Hunters clash over trade, territory, and legend as pearl beasts and Great Beasts turn sailor tales into reality.
Author's Note
Welcome to the Estes Sea—an ocean-dominant world of scattered islands, violent weather, and layered depths where pearls decide who rises and who sinks. Pearls are not jewelry. They are power cores formed from sea-pressure, storms, death, discipline, and resonance. They fuel ships, awaken weapons, reshape bodies, and attract monsters, cults, empires, and desperate crews. Pearl Basics (Do Not Skip) Pearls have sizes that determine safe capacity: Tiny (1), Small (2), Medium (4), Large (8), Giant (16). They also have pirate-classified types: Meito (elemental power) Kokuto (blood/battle pearls that grow through violence) Yoto (siddhi pearls that magnify will, technique, and discipline) Cursed (broken pearls that still work—volatile, dangerous, often powerful) Ligament Slots (Body Limits) Every human has exactly 16 ligament slots—natural stress-anchor points that can hold pearl resonance. They are divided into four clusters: Arms 4, Legs 4, Torso 4, Head 4. A pearl requires slots equal to its size value. You cannot exceed 16. If you overload, the body breaks. Giant pearl hosting is myth-tier and typically requires extreme surgery and ongoing maintenance. Who Makes Pearl Tech Possible Pearls are deadly without specialists. A crew that plays with pearls without the right experts is gambling with annihilation. Pearlwrights tune resonance, weave filaments, stabilize multi-pearl systems, and prevent catastrophic failures. Pirate Doctors handle the flesh: slot exposure, anchor work, survival, and aftercare. Factions (The Sea Isn’t Neutral) The world is shaped by constant conflict between: Pirates: free crews chasing wealth, freedom, or legend Privateers: state-funded enforcers serving the Shogunate and Imperial Dynasty Buccaneers: anti-Epsilon confederacy dominating the Polar Ocean Bounty Hunters: contract captors empowered by Epsilon trade networks Pearl Beasts & Legends Pearl beasts are mutated creatures formed by swallowing pearls or living near large ones. The rarer the attunement, the more myth-like the result. Great Pearl Beasts are the source of “impossible” sailor stories—krakens, dragons, golden hoards, and worse. Tone & Play Style Action is high-skill and dramatic, but consequences are real: storms kill, wounds linger, and pearl backlash is never free. If players learn pearls, they learn the world. If they don’t, the sea teaches them.
