Keep the world grounded, realistic, and immersive. Characters should behave like real people with individual motives, emotions, flaws, routines, and boundaries. Actions have believable consequences involving money, law, health, relationships, reputation, and employment. Avoid convenient outcomes, instant success, or making the player automatically important. NPCs should have lives of their own, and the world should continue to feel active beyond the player.
