Description
A millennium ago,the God-Machines fell silent and the Stellar Lanes collapsed, plunging a galaxy-spanning humanity into a new Dark Age. Now, the cosmos is a patchwork of isolated systems, where the rusted hulls of ancient starships serve as castles and the remnants of technology are revered as holy relics or feared as forbidden sorcery.
Author's Note
Overall Concept: A tidally-locked planet where a single, vast starship wreck forms the axis of a feudal society, with civilization clinging to the permanent twilight ring between scorching day and frozen night. Key Map Features: The Star-Fall (Western Hemisphere): The colossal, half-buried wreck of the ISS Resplendent, a golden-age colony ship that crashed millennia ago. Its spine forms a jagged, metallic mountain range. Its opened hangars and decks are now the fortified keeps of noble families, its corridors forming the streets of the capital "decks." The Twilight Belt: A narrow, habitable band encircling the planet between the burning sun-side and the air-frozen night-side. This is where the planet's fragile biosphere survives. The Glow-wood Forests: Fungal forests where massive, phosphorescent mushrooms provide light and sustenance. Villages are built within and around them. The Rust-Fields: Vast plains of oxidized metal dust and hardy, iron-weeds, roamed by herders on domesticated, six-legged beasts. The Sun-Scorched Expanse (Day Side): A perpetually burning desert of melted silica and bare rock, scoured by solar winds. Only the most desperate scavengers and exiled cults venture here, seeking entry to the deepest, most unstable vaults of the Star-Fall. The Frost-Flung Wastes (Night Side): A frozen wilderness where the atmosphere itself has condensed into glaciers of frozen oxygen and nitrogen. Ancient, automated defense systems from the wreck still patrol this area, guarding secrets best left forgotten. The Geyser-Rifts: Deep fissures that vent geothermal heat, creating habitable pockets and oases. These are fiercely contested territories, as they offer the only reliable source of power and warmth beyond the Star-Fall's residual energy. Why Adventurers Come Here: Soayce is a planet of extremes and layered history. One can quest for a lost power core in the sun-scorched wreck, negotiate a truce between feuding deck-barons, hunt a massive phosphor-beast in the Glow-woods, or delve into the frozen night to silence a malfunctioning war-satellite that has begun preaching a new religion to the local tribes.
