Twilight Forest

Overview**

Far to the west, beyond the reach of the Elderwood’s Verdant Heart, lies the **Twilight Forest** — a timeless woodland bathed in perpetual silver dusk. Here, shadows never fully deepen and day never truly comes. The forest is alive with enchantments, its paths folding in on themselves, misleading and ensnaring any outsider who dares enter. At its heart, the **Twilight Dragon’s lingering presence** radiates, sustaining the forest’s eternal half-light.

The Twilight Dragon

- **Last of Its Kind** – The sole Dragon Lord spared during the Giant Rebellion, fleeing southward with its elven followers.

- **Lingering Presence** – Though it no longer reveals itself openly, its essence permeates the forest, sustaining the Twilight Elves and shielding them from corruption.

- **Guardian & God** – To the Twilight Elves, it is both divine patron and eternal protector, a being whose survival proves that not all dragons were tyrants.

The Twilight Elves

- **Appearance** – Tall, silver-haired, and blue-skinned, retaining the stature and grace of the first elves before the goblin curse.

- **Culture** – Steeped in magic, their society blends living wood with starlit metals, crafting wonders unseen elsewhere.

- **Faith** – They revere the Twilight Dragon as the source of their strength and longevity, guarding its presence as the holiest of secrets.

- **Isolation** – Unlike the wood elves who turned to Verdant Heart, the Twilight Elves shut themselves away, permitting no outsiders to tread their domain.

The Twilight City

- **Nature** – Capital of the Twilight Elves, hidden deep in the forest.

- **Design** – Forged from living trees grown into towers, woven with gleaming starlit metal that reflects the silver glow of the forest.

- **Purpose** – At once a **sanctuary** for its people and a **fortress** safeguarding the Twilight Dragon’s secret.

- **Enchantment** – Paths to the city shift constantly, guided by fey-like wards and illusions. Only elves may walk them unerring.

Enchantments of the Forest

- **Twilight Glamours** – Trails loop endlessly, landmarks appear in multiple places, and time itself seems to slow.

- **Fey-Like Denizens** – Spirits of starlight drift between the trees, guiding or misleading wanderers.

- **Living Watchers** – Beasts and plants serve as guardians, their forms shimmering with draconic essence.

Role in the World

- **After the Fall** – While goblins fell to curse and wood elves bound themselves to the Verdant Heart, the Twilight Elves preserved their ancient heritage under the Twilight Dragon.

- **Rarity** – Few outside even believe the Twilight Elves exist; fewer still have glimpsed their forest.

- **Neutrality** – They avoid Thalossan expansion, though some whisper that should the Dragon Lords stir again, the Twilight Dragon may rise in vengeance.

Myths & Secrets

- **The Dragon’s Slumber** – Some believe the Twilight Dragon lies sleeping beneath the city, its dreams fueling the forest’s perpetual dusk.

- **Silver Path** – A hidden road said to lead outsiders safely into the city, though it appears only under starlight and never to mortals twice.

- **Starlit Forge** – The elves’ great forge said to shape metal infused with the Dragon’s breath, creating relics of power.
