In Thalosar, undead are not a natural state of being, nor a chosen transformation—they are the byproduct of metaphysical failure. Whenever a soul re-enters a corpse, whether through Veil weakening, necromancy, or attempted resurrection, the body reacts violently and manifests the Corpse Plague. The result is an unstable, corrupted reanimation: flesh blackens, thick necrotic ooze seeps from wounds, and identity fractures or disappears entirely. Some undead shamble mindlessly, driven by corrupted impulse; others retain fragments of memory twisted into hostility. All are contagious vectors of further Veil destabilization if left unchecked. Undead are therefore treated not merely as monsters, but as symptoms of a deeper rupture between life, death, and the Divine Realm.
