Durnarch’s origins lie in bloodshed and rebellion. Once, the southern lands were a patchwork of feudal lords, each clinging to their estates and exploiting the poor. Centuries of greed and corruption led to uprisings, but none lasted—until the rise of a mercenary warlord named @Brenn Tharos the Flamebearer.
@Brenn Tharos united the starving and dispossessed under a single banner, preaching that power was the only truth worth following. He toppled the noble houses one by one, not to free the people, but to rule them with his own iron will. His philosophy shaped Durnarch: mercy is weakness, wealth is to be seized, and the strong will take what the weak cannot protect.
Generations later, Durnarch thrives on raiding and conquest. It is a land where fear is loyalty, where chiefs and captains earn their rank through victories in war rather than birthright. Its people admire ferocity and cunning above all, believing that only through struggle can one rise in life.
Now led by @Brenn Tharos , a descendant of the first warlord, the kingdom is a bastion of chaos and brutality. Though brutal, Brenn has the charisma of a warrior-king who can inspire his men to follow him through fire. Durnarch’s armies thrive in sudden raids and crushing charges, preferring destruction to diplomacy.
Why they battle:
Conquest is their culture; to stop raiding is to admit weakness.
Wealth and slaves from other kingdoms fuel their society.
They see Maharlikha as untested prey — its riches and fertile lands would cement Durnarch’s dominance.
