Locuplian Metal Men (Artificial Race)

THE LOCUPLIAN METAL MEN

Classification: Artificial Sentient Species
Origin World: @Planet Locuples
Population: Declining (Est. < 120 million from original 500 million)
Status: Extant, Endangered
Creator: @King Cupiditas of the @Cupid Conglomerate and @Avarus Domain

OVERVIEW

The @Locuplian Metal Men are a race of sentient beings forged from a rare, malleable yet durable metal unique to Planet Locuples. Originally created by King Cupiditas during his campaign of galactic conquest, these beings were designed as the perfect warriors: fearless, adaptive, and unstoppable. Infused with advanced artificial intelligence and nanotechnological systems, they were capable of reshaping their forms into weapons, tools, or constructs of devastating efficiency.

Though nearly invincible in battle, their fate was bound not by defeat, but by the whims of their maker. After securing dominion over what is now the Avarus Domain, Cupiditas abandoned them, turning his attention toward constructing his next obsession: planetary bomb vessels (@Enigma being one such example). Left leaderless, purposeless, and scattered, the Locuplian Metal Men carved out a tenuous independence under the shadow of their origin.

HISTORY

  • Forged for War
King Cupiditas birthed the Metal Men as his war-forged legions, numbering over 500 million at their peak. Their nanotech-driven forms made them unparalleled shock troops, capable of forming heavy weapons, shields, and even large-scale constructs in unison.

  • The Manumitter’s Revolution
During the height of conquest, a prototype Metal Man—@Bachir The Hammersmith, known among his kin as The Manumitter—rose against their imposed servitude. Unlike later generations, Bachir was powered by magnetic force technology rather than nanotech. His defiance inspired a revolt, fracturing the legions. Though they lacked unity, their sheer might combined with Cupiditas’s indifference forced the Avarus Domain to acknowledge their independence.

  • Decline and Extinction Looming
The Metal Men cannot reproduce, nor do they age. Yet as centuries pass, their numbers dwindle through war, attrition, and neglect. Their population, once vast, has dwindled by more than three-quarters.

BIOLOGY & ABILITIES

  • Composition: Forged entirely of Locuplian Metal, a hyper-dense alloy both malleable and nearly indestructible.

  • Nanotech Adaptation: Most generations can morph limbs and bodies into weapons, tools, or advanced machinery. They can combine their forms for larger constructs.

  • Prototypes: Early models (such as Bachir) lacked nanotech but wielded magnetic manipulation, giving them unique control over metallic structures.

  • Immortality: They do not age and are immune to disease, but they can be destroyed. Their inability to reproduce makes extinction inevitable without intervention.

  • Genderless Mimesis: Though inherently genderless, they adopt human-like forms and genders for the sake of interaction, roleplay, and cultural mimicry.

CULTURE & SOCIETY

  • Existential Crisis: Once forged solely as weapons, the Metal Men now wander the galaxy in search of identity and purpose. Many resent their origins, attempting to live as “humans” on Locuples—taking on roles, families, and livelihoods despite their metallic nature.

  • The Refuge of Locuples: While many roam the stars, the majority remain on their homeworld, treating it as a sanctuary and cultural heartland. All end up coming back atleast once throughout their journeys, due to the need to recharge and replenish their Locuplian Metal bodies (which gradually shed from use) on their home planet that generates it continuously.

  • Fragmented Ideologies: Some embrace their martial origins, hiring themselves out as mercenaries or enforcers. Others reject violence entirely, living quietly among other humans and cultures.

📜 Excerpt from the Chronicles of the Freelancers Faction, Vol. II

“You call him The Hammersmith, the Heart of the Freelancers. We call him Manumitter, our Brother. He gave us more than liberty; he gave us the curse and gift of choice.” – Quote from one of Bachir's fellow metal men who joined us.
