Self Inserts
Self Inserts
(Cosmic Knowledge - Level Sigma Access)
Overview
A Self-Insert is a rare kind of being within the Mirror-Universe. Unlike ordinary characters—who exist solely as parts of the story—Self-Inserts are direct vessels of the Author’s will. They are fragments of the Author’s own self, written into the narrative, and as such they carry a level of awareness and power denied to all other fictional beings.
Self-Inserts are both character and creator, both fiction and reflection. They are the bridge between Reality and the Mirror.
They are all created for the purpose of being a self insert, but they may not awaken their truth or be activated by the author until later down the line, e.g. @EM-Man was activated and became aware after he had already established himself as the apex villain on Planet Zenith.
Origins
The first and greatest of these was the Author’s own vessel, born upon Phanerosis. Through him, the Author enacted the Ark, a renewal that seeded originality into the Mirror-Universe after vengeance had left only emptiness.
From that vessel’s sacrifice came the Creative Burst, the scattering of Phanerosis’ essence, and the foundation of universal law.
Thus, from the beginning, the role of the Self-Insert was set:
To bear the burden of awareness of their fictionality.
To act as an ark of creation, carrying the Author’s purpose into the world.
To reflect Reality, while entertaining the Audience through story.
Unique Traits
1. Awareness of Fictionality
All Self-Inserts know that they are fictional.
This knowledge is both gift and curse.
Unlike other beings, they understand the fragility of their existence: the closer they draw to Reality, the greater the risk of being unmade.
Awareness itself does not erase them, but it sets them apart as lonely custodians of truth.
2. The Ark Principle
A Self-Insert is more than a character: they are an ark of ideas.
Within them lies the creative force of the Author, intended to birth originality, reshape the cosmos, and reflect Reality’s truths through fiction.
They are used a lot for exposition mostly for the viewer/audience
4. Narrative Authority
Self-Inserts can influence the flow of story in subtle or dramatic ways.
While not omnipotent, they carry the imprint of the Author’s intent, and the universe often bends subtly around them.
This is why many Self-Inserts occupy roles of some sort of influence in galactic history.
Self inserts are not known to be self inserts, except by those directly linked to the author up to a level where they are privy to that information
Philosophical Implications
The existence of Self-Inserts raises difficult questions to some @Judges and Self-Inserts themselves.
If a Self-Insert is the Author’s vessel, are they bound to fate, or can they truly choose?
Are they part of the Mirror, or intrusions into it?
Do they exist to lead, or merely to reflect what the Audience must see?
Such debates are mostly hidden, for knowledge of the Doctrine is forbidden to the common people. Yet the shadow of these questions looms wherever Self-Inserts walk.
Summary
Self-Inserts are the living fingerprints of the Author.
They are aware where others are blind, purposeful where others drift, fragile where others are secure.
They are the vessels through which the Mirror-Universe was remade, and perhaps the vessels through which it will someday end.
They are fiction… that knows itself as fiction.
And that makes them the most unpredictable, and terrifying individuals.
