The Old Kharsetian Empire is gone. What it left behind — roads, debts, churches, and borders that nobody agreed to — is still here. Successor lords argue over the inheritance. Mercenary kingdoms hold what they took. The people in between make do. Somewhere out there, the old world's edges are still uncharted, and the new one hasn't decided what it wants to be yet.
