Description
A grim and perilous land where kingdoms teeter on the brink of ruin, the Old World is scarred by endless war, treachery, and the creeping taint of Chaos. Men, dwarfs, and elves struggle to hold civilization against beastmen, orcs, undead, and worse. Life is brutal and short, hope fragile and fleeting—but in defiance of despair, mortals still raise steel, faith, and fire against the darkness. (Please read the Autho's Notes.)
Author's Note
Warning: This is a heavy work in progress. If you notice any major issues, balancing problems, or have helpful feedback, you can reach me on the official Friends & Fables Discord as Kaiww. I am currently converting materials from the Warhammer Fantasy RPG 2nd Edition for Friends & Fables. The process starts with the books Knights of the Grail and Old World Armory, which means most of the current content focuses on Bretonnia and includes many weapons. I am converting all available information: characters, equipment, careers, spells, and background details, so it takes time to progress. Expanding the full map is planned but will take a long time. Art: My biggest challenge at the moment is finding suitable artwork, especially for weapons. I am working on it, but it is a lower priority due to the scope of this hobby project. The System: WHFRP 2nd Edition is not very compatible with D&D 5e, so I have developed my own system. Players are not required to follow these roleplaying rules: All classes start with weapon proficiencies and 4 skill choices. Races can grant attribute bonuses or an additional skill, and every 5 levels you gain an extra skill and proficiency choice. Magic: The magic system in WHFRP 2nd Edition is very different from D&D. I have converted all lesser spells and the lores of Heaven, Life, Beast, Dark, Tzeentch, Slaanesh, and Nurgle. The others are of course planned. Currently, spells are limited to level 5, though I may add more spells in the future Normal wizards have access to their chosen lore (Heaven, Beast, or Life) and lesser magic. Chaos sorcerers have access to their chosen lore (Slaanesh, Nurgle, or Tzeentch), lesser magic, and the Dark Lore. (Chaos spell lists are shorter than others, which is why the Dark Lore was added.) Bretonnian Knights: Bretonnian Knights have access to Virtues, which I converted into cantrips. Knights of the Realm and Knights Errant start with one Virtue. You can gain another Virtue every 5 levels or choose Virtues for roleplay purposes. Quests: I am in the process of converting adventure hooks from the background books into short questlines, typically 5–7 steps each. This is a slow process, but I am keeping up with it.
