I'm sure that we've all been there. I know I have. You've had an idea for a city, a mountain, range, or maybe a dark carnival in a distant land, but it's hard to get your ideas out in a way that's easy to see, edit, and organize. What if you could describe your idea and just have the world to build itself? That's exactly what it's like to use the AI tools provided by Friends & Fables. Whether you're creating a game on the Friends & Fables platform, or you're working on a custom campaign for a D&D or Pathfinders game, AI worldbuilding has completely changed the game forever.
Even before AI came out, I've been using worldbuilding tools online for many years. I used to use name generators, location generators, and map generators that I found by using Google. The one problem that I had with those generators was that they were very generic and built in ways that had little variety. Sure, a lot of them were really good and helpful, but they couldn't help me get specific things that I wanted. For example, if I wanted a very unique city that was build underneath the water where residents lived in magical pockets of air, not a single map generator 5-10 years ago would be able to even come close to accomplishing that.
All of this has changed over the last few years with the advancements in AI. Now, anything that you want to create is available to you. Just give it a few years and the quality will get so good that distinguishing between fiction and reality will be nearly impossible.
You might be wondering, what kind of AI tools does Friends & Fables have to offer? Well, here are just a few of the tools that make it stand out:
Every single one of these tools is completely free for anyone to use. Think of it as a complete suite of free world-building tools that are designed to work perfectly for all of your D&D, Pathfinders, and other general TTRPG needs. Keep in mind that these tools are specifically built to compliment the Friends & Fables platform, so we definitely encourage you to give the game a try if you’ve originally arrived here just for worldbuilding.
Let's not forget the other AI tools that we all know and love, that also complement worldbuilding. If you love other tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, or MidJourney, you'll be right at home here. If you look at other worlds that are built on the platform, there are many that are using art that's generated from those other generators. Worldbuilders are also creating their descriptions and appearances from ChatGPT or Gemini. I personally like to use ChatGPT and their project folders to help me organize everything before I put them into a world. I have a friend who uses Gemini exclusively and puts everything into Google Docs.
The thing about Friends & Fables is that it's built exclusively for worldbuilding. So after you create anything, even if it's generated by AIs that are not from the platform, you can compile it into the world you are building in a nice, neat, and organized way. Friends & Fables has tabs for maps, characters, races, classes, factions, monsters, items, spells, quests, one-shots, and lore.
It's been about seven months since I started playing Friends & Fables and building worlds on the platform. Since then, I've built seven very large worlds. Just to give you an idea of how helpful Friends & Fables' worldbuilding is, I have a massive world that I recently built called Dungeon Break. In that world, I have 134 characters, 429 points of interest, 475 areas, 3 different races, 28 different classes, 15 different factions, 201 different monsters, 236 different items, and 458 different spells. Every single one of those characters has its own descriptions for appearance, personality, backstory, and mannerisms. Every single one of those characters has a class, race, stocked inventory, and spellbook filled with their abilities. Every single point of interest and area has filled out descriptions and appearances. I can talk about the rest for hours, but I think I'll just leave it at that for now.
The point is, Friends & Fables makes world building easy and organizes all of your world. I've already spoken with the D&D group that I run games for regularly and they're on board with me running our next campaign based in my Dungeon Break universe. This is only possible because I have all of the world build out and organized. My players are already really excited about the idea of playing in this world, but it would have taken me months of additional work to get it this organized. Thanks for Friends & Fables, that process has been expedited.
With all these tools available for free, there's nothing stopping you from giving it a try.
