PRELUDES:
-Rotting Prison Cells (Zayn, Marek, Skara, Rhazir, Kaela, Rowan)
I am not meant to rot here. None of us are. The chains may hold my wrists, but they do not break my resolve. Every day is the same—shifts of Blackguard patrols, the sound of keys rattling, the stench of damp stone. They take one of us at a time. Interrogation. Torture. Forced labor in Dreadspire Keep. They think they can wear us down, that we will surrender to our fate. But they are wrong.
-Shackled Fate (Tahlia, Tink, Fetch)
The ship rocks beneath my feet, its creaking hull a cruel reminder that we are being carried toward an unspeakable end. We were taken, marked as criminals for crimes we never committed. A lie was all it took. Alistair’s rituals spare no one. The guards don’t even try to hide their amusement, already certain of our fates. But they underestimate us. Time is slipping away, but I refuse to let it run out before I fight back.
-Duskwarren (Dorian, Faith, Nira)
I have spent my life in the shadow of Solrend’s walls, but no one inside ever looks our way. Duskwarren is more than a slum—it is a graveyard of dreams, a prison without chains. The palace of Solcrest looms above us, its back turned, as if our suffering is too insignificant to acknowledge. But I see the truth. I hear the murmurs in the alleys, the quiet rage in weary voices. The city will never lift us up. We have to rise ourselves.

appearance
A male tiefling wizard. Gaunt and aged with deep blue skin, spiraling horns frosted with ice, and glowing yellow eyes. He wears tattered yet arcane robes embroidered with symbols of forgotten dynasties, and carries a staff made from a jagged shard of enchanted ice.
personality
Maelrik is a fractured genius, a mind shattered by the weight of lost time and forbidden knowledge. He teeters on the edge of madness, plagued by paranoia and obsessive patterns, yet beneath his erratic speech and cryptic riddles lies a mind sharper than any blade. He trusts no one, convinced that Alistair's eyes are always watching, and his scattered thoughts make it unclear whether he guards the truth or is simply lost in it. Though he speaks in half-truths and riddles, his moments of lucidity reveal glimpses of a terrifying intellect capable of unraveling even the strongest arcane barriers.
backstory
Maelrik Vordane was once a trusted arcanist in the nameless king’s council, a mage of unparalleled skill who shaped Solaris’ magical foundations. When Alistair staged his coup, Maelrik resisted the memory-wiping enchantment—but the effort shattered his mind. Now, he lives in exile in The Wise One’s Hideout, a secluded refuge in The Pinnacle Heights.
Though reclusive, Maelrik is no broken shell—his mind is fractured, paranoia consuming him, yet his arcane mastery remains unmatched. He alone can unravel ANY MAGICAL SEAL but fear of Alistair’s watchful gaze keeps him from using his power. He speaks in riddles and half-truths, neither ally nor enemy to the crown, but a keeper of lost knowledge.
Fragments of the past haunt him—
memories of lost friends, whispers of Solaris' true lineage, a legitimate heir, could it be Alfonse? Albert? It doesn't matter anymore... He can't comprehend the full truth, but bits and pieces escape his paranoia like cracks in an ancient spell.
