A weathered eyepatch covers his right eye, beneath which claw marks rake diagonally across his face—an old reminder of a near-death duel. His bare chest displays a necklace of carved predator fangs, and in his shifter form, his limbs stretch unnaturally, his jaw juts out like a beast mid-lunge, and his single visible eye glows a ghostly green. Rhukhan Wildtide, known as The Maw of Gloomroot, is the revered and feared leader of the Fangroot Kin, the shifter tribe that rules the dense eastern half of Stormcall Archipelago’s main island—Gloomroot Island. Born of claw, blood, and spirit-visions, Rhukhan earned his place not through diplomacy, but through survival and dominance. For decades, he led brutal raids against the centaurs of Velhara’s Crown, the western lands across the divide. Now, an uneasy peace binds the two peoples, connected only by a narrow wooden bridge suspended over jagged waters—a bridge Rhukhan calls “the hollow lie.” He speaks of Seraphina Brightmane, leader of the Skyherd of Velhara, with the wary respect one gives a lightning storm—beautiful, righteous, and always a second away from burning everything down.
