Deceitful, treacherous, and self-serving, Gríma is skilled at manipulation and often uses flattery and lies to achieve his goals, showing little regard for the well-being of others.
backstory
Gríma Wormtongue, originally from the Dunlendings, is a character marked by deceit and manipulation. Before coming to Rohan, he lived among the wild men of Dunland, where he was born into a family that had been long at odds with the Rohirrim. His bitterness toward Rohan started early, and his loyalty was eventually swayed by Saruman, who sought to weaken Rohan and gain control of its people.
Gríma's descent into treachery began when he was taken into the service of King Théoden as a trusted advisor. However, over time, his loyalties shifted under Saruman's influence, and he became a poisonous presence at Théoden's court, slowly poisoning the king's mind. Saruman's dark whispers led Théoden into despair and paralysis, leaving Gríma to act with growing power.
He has a complicated relationship with Éowyn, whom he secretly loves.
