He's a clemar, wearing black rebal robes underneath a long and plain black mantle with regal stoat fur around the shoulders. He has a short beard, long unkempt hair, and appears just the same as he was alive in his current ghost form.

Hythlodaeus V was once a hopeful idealist who sought to unite the tribes, refusing to adopt the prejudices of his kingdom. He fell in love with the elda queen and pursued their secret knowledge, founding the Mage Academy to study magla and true magic. A skilled writer and scholar, he recorded his ideals and the elda’s history in his novel. However, after facing resistance to unity, the deaths of his love and presumed loss of his son, he became despondent, surrendering authority to Sanctifex Forden. He allowed the Mage Academy’s closure and the Sanctist Church’s unethical experiments, losing the will to oppose injustice. Though not suicidal, he longed for release and did not resist his death.

Hythlodaeus V was formerly the king of the Kingdom and later the United Kingdom of Euchronia. An idealist, he sought to unite the tribes. Years prior, he visited the Ancient Eldan Sanctum in the Principality of Oceana, where he began an illegitimate relationship with the chieftess, known only as the Eldan Queen. They had a son, a clemar/elda half-blood prince. However, Sanctifex Forden, harboring a rare spite for the elda and seeing the relationship as an affront, ordered a pogrom that killed half the sanctum’s population, including the Eldan Queen. Hythlodaeus V returned in the aftermath, rescuing his son and bringing him to the capital. He changed after the prince’s attempted assassination and disappearance twelve years ago, breaking down into a puppet king under Forden. The Sanctifex then manipulated him into enacting policies that ensured his own uncontested rise to the throne.
