Description

The Wave District of Athkatla occupies the northwestern curve of the city, pressed between the Sea of Swords and the northern banks of the Alandor River. A confluence of salt air and scholarship, this district serves as both haven and hub for navigators, astronomers, and scribes alike. The towering Moonhall, a seven-sided temple devoted to Selûne, watches over the harbor’s edge, its rituals timed by tides and moonlight. Overseen by Lunar Aryn Gallowglass, a calculating priestess with a merchant's instinct, Moonhall anchors the district’s spiritual and mercantile identity. The Great Griffon bell, weighing seven tons, tolls with deep sonorous warnings to ships in stormy approach. Dotted with guildhouses, shrines, and observatories, the Wave District is a sanctuary for divine insight, celestial observation, and the paperbound pursuits of the faithful and the studious. Here, trade and faith crash together like tide against stone.

Appearance

The Wave District greets visitors with ocean winds, gleaming rooftops, and the distant clang of ship rigging. Buildings of pale stone and silverwood line sloped avenues, etched with symbols of Selûne and Waukeen. Scroll-vendors and acolytes walk among seawalls, and the glinting conical spire of Moonhall rises like a beacon, catching moonlight even in daylight.
