Qrenta is the younger sibling to Qrento’s chaos—newer, poorer, and even less recognized by the city of Athkatla. Situated directly north of Qrento and east of the Trade District, this hill-clinging shantytown exists in a kind of civic limbo. Refugees from distant wars, escaped indentures, and those too poor for even Qrento’s rough welcome stake their claims here with whatever timber, cloth, or stone they can find. Qrenta lacks even the minimal cohesion of its southern neighbor—there are no elders here, only toughs, zealots, and desperate visionaries. Alchemical waste from black-market workshops seeps into the dry gullies, and strange cults find easy converts among the hopeless. Despite this, some folk call it home: tinkerers, hedge-priests, bug-charmers, and castoff apprentices who seek to build a life just outside the reach of coin and control. To Athkatla’s elite, Qrenta doesn’t exist—until it’s on fire.
Qrenta clings to the rising hills in a chaotic sprawl of rotting cloth, broken crates, and crooked tin roofs. Smoke curls from burn-barrel fires, casting greasy shadows across crude shrines and toppled fences. The soil is dry and sour, stained with dyes and alchemical run-off. The wind carries ash, prayer-chants, and the muffled thrum of hammers beating against rust.
