Calantar’s Way is one of Cormyr’s principal royal roads, running north to south from the fortified city of Arabel to the capital of Suzail. Built in the late 900s DR by the noble House Calantar, the road was originally a private cartway intended to link the family's estates near Hilp to the heartlands of the realm. Over time, it evolved into a major trade and military route, maintained by both the Crown and regional lords. The road crosses the Starwater River via Calantar’s Bridge—an arched stone span still bearing the family’s crest—and winds through key settlements including Immersea and Hilp, skirting farmlands, estates, and portions of the Moonsea Ride. Though less perilous than Cormyr’s border routes, the Way is patrolled by Purple Dragons, who ensure safe passage and collect tariffs from foreign traders. Today, Calantar’s Way remains a proud legacy of noble engineering and a backbone of Cormyr’s internal travel and commerce.
A broad gravel road flanked by stone markers engraved with Cormyr's crowned stag and House Calantar's entwined 'C'. It winds through golden fields, vineyards, and manicured baronial lands, with farmhands visible along hedge-lined boundaries. Near Hilp, the Starwater River sparkles beneath the mossy stone arches of Calantar's Bridge. The road bustles by day with wagons, couriers, and Purple Dragon patrols, growing quiet at dusk with river mist and echoing hooves.
