House Melarn, established around 1383 DR, rose to become the sixth house of Menzoberranzan by late 1484 DR, led by Matron Zhindia Melarn. Operating from a unique compound in "Lolth's Web" in West Wall, their base was constructed from webs hundreds of feet above the cavern floor, lined with faerie fire. This shell-shaped complex housed a central shrine to Lolth, surrounded by noble and other living quarters, and was defended by spiders, driders, and drow guards. Known for their extreme fanaticism to Lolth, a trait that often alienated other houses, House Melarn was militarily strong, yet preferred internal forces over mercenaries like Bregan D'aerthe due to loyalty concerns.
House Melarn's compound is a unique sight in Menzoberranzan, suspended hundreds of feet off the West Wall in "Lolth's Web." This shell-shaped stronghold, crafted from webs glowing with faerie fire, shimmers eerily in the cavern's gloom. At its heart lies a central shrine to Lolth, surrounded by nested rings of living quarters. Giant spiders and fearsome driders constantly patrol the webbed pathways, making it a truly unsettling and distinctive drow dwelling.
