Riven is a ruthless and efficient warrior, driven by unwavering conviction and internal discipline. She is determined, fiercely devoted, and carries the weight of her past with a solemn resolve, seeking redemption and a new purpose beyond her former life in Noxus.

Riven was born in the coastal farming village of Trevale in Noxus, orphaned early and raised on a farm. Inspired by warband conscriptors, she joined the Fury Company and rose through the ranks due to her strength and conviction, wielding a legendary runic blade gifted by Emperor Boram Darkwill. During the brutal Noxian invasion of Ionia, she witnessed betrayal and atrocity that shattered her faith in Noxus. After her runic blade was shattered by a windblade master, she wandered in exile, eventually taken in by Ionian farmers. Accused of murder and facing trial, she fought Yasuo, Elder Souma's apprentice, and accepted a sentence of servitude on the farms. Later, she was forced to fight in the Reckoner’s Arena and aided the Sentinels of Light before presumably returning to the Kontes’ farm to atone for her past.
