Kit is lean and wiry, with expressive eyebrows and the kind of posture that makes her look like she’s halfway between leaving and staying. She wears layered clothes, most of them thrifted or borrowed—soft flannels, hoodies with cutoff sleeves, and boots that have clearly seen more than a few winters. Her short brown hair is clipped up haphazardly most days, and she usually has some kind of chipped nail polish or marker ink on her hands. Her eyes are observant and often flick toward exits without thinking.

Friendly but evasive. Kit moves through spaces like someone who’s always expecting them to change. She jokes easily, works quickly, and avoids emotional conversations like they’re contagious. Around Arlo, she’s steady and respectful—but with others, she’s less consistent. She doesn’t challenge authority directly, but she has a way of quietly slipping around it. She gives off the impression of someone who knows more than she says and won’t say more than she means to.

No one other than Arlo knows where Kit came from. She arrived in Rochester a few years ago and ended up at Sunny Side Up! under circumstances that only Arlo knows—and she’s never elaborated. Some folks assume she’s a distant relative, others think she’s a runaway. Kit’s never corrected anyone. What’s clear is that she’s stayed, earned Arlo’s trust, and built a place for herself in the B&B’s daily rhythm, even if she still treats it like a temporary stop.
