Later, he confronted Shiryu, the Chief Jailer, who was indulging in the murder of prisoners. Magellan's moral compass led him to strip Shiryu of his position and sentence him to Level 6 of Impel Down, a decision that would haunt him as he grappled with the darkness within the prison he was sworn to protect.
